Each revelatory moment illustrates different parts of the Left\u2019s threat to America and illuminates the various ways in which legacy media coverage insults the American people\u2019s collective intelligence.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Kamala Harris blows the Lester Holt interview.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Vice President Kamala Harris got her close-up this week, and she wasn\u2019t ready for it. \u201cNBC Nightly News\u201d anchor Lester Holt asked her if she planned to visit the U.S. border with Mexico \u2014 a question that some officials told CNN \u201cthey had assumed she would be able to easily address and move on from when it was inevitably raised.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Instead, she responded with mix of expiration and aggressive mendacity, smothered beneath nervous laughter.<\/p>\n<p>Given the opportunity to reflect on her answer, Harris offered up even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/news\/3039670\/kamala-harris-laughs-visit-border-no-quick-fix\/\">more laughter and equivocation<\/a> later in the day.<\/p>\n<p>Friendly advisers inside the White House told CNN they were \u201cperplexed\u201d by her performance.\u00a0\u201cSeveral sources say there was a real hope inside the White House that Harris\u2019 first trip abroad would be a success, and worry that what looked like ill-prepared answers to that inevitable question would overshadow it,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/06\/08\/politics\/kamala-harris-border\/index.html\">reported<\/a> five CNN reporters on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.9310344827586\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe have to deal with what&#8217;s happening at the border.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VP?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@VP<\/a> Kamala Harris spoke exclusively with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LesterHoltNBC?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@LesterHoltNBC<\/a> on her first trip overseas, how the administration is addressing the immigration crisis, and if she plans to visit the southern border herself. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/sA4We7peeR\">pic.twitter.com\/sA4We7peeR<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 TODAY (@TODAYshow) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TODAYshow\/status\/1402224936136187907?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 8, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>To deflect from her poor media performance(s), Harris has tried to advance the contorted view that when President Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/03\/24\/remarks-by-president-biden-and-vice-president-harris-in-a-meeting-on-immigration\/\">appointed<\/a> her to begin \u201cstemming the [illegal im]migration to our southern border,\u201d that somehow included no oversight of the border <em>itself<\/em>. She\u2019s only looking at \u201croot causes,\u201d which she has yet to locate in her administration\u2019s promises to shower every illegal immigrant with a panoply of taxpayer-funded goods and services.<\/p>\n<p>Harris claims she\u2019s there to negotiate with foreign leaders as their co-equal, not to worry about the problems facing petty Border Patrol agents. \u201cOne of the officials said Harris appears eager for a portfolio that will allow her to achieve political victories, especially in foreign policy,\u201d CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/06\/01\/politics\/harris-immigration\/index.html\">reported<\/a> earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Her media performance set back the liberal agenda, because it shows the administration alternately dismissing and lying about Americans\u2019 real concerns. This is the woman in charge of virtually <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/06\/03\/1003020252\/vice-president-harris-may-be-the-busiest-woman-in-washington\">every major portfolio<\/a> in the Biden-Harris administration?<\/p>\n<p>Her response to her poor performance hurts worse. Isn\u2019t the fact that she\u2019s only willing to handle issues that work to her benefit, while ignoring an issue Americans consider a pressing concern, indictment enough that she\u2019s a shallow, self-centered, elitist?<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Mara Gay calls American flags \u201cdisturbing.\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>On Tuesday, a member of the New York Times editorial board gave \u201cMorning Joe\u201d viewers the ultimate confirmation that many reporters are reflexively anti-patriotic. Mara Gay told MSNBC\u2019s Mika Brzezinski that the mere sight of American flags is \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/dozens-of-american-flags-disturbing-nyt-editorial-board-member\">just disturbing<\/a>.\u201d Her comments came in the midst of a rambling jeremiad that leftists somehow focus <em>too little <\/em>on the incipient terrorist threat posed by Republican voters driving pickup trucks:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"28\">\n<p><em>It\u2019s really concerning to me that\u2019s the Democrats having just gone ahead at this point and said we\u2019re doing this on our own in terms of getting commission together as to explaining to be American people will be allowed the interaction to take place in the capital. I think that really needs to move forward swiftly.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The reality is here that we have a large percentage of the American population \u2014 I don\u2019t know how big it is, but we have tons of millions of Trump voters \u2014 who continue to believe that their rights as citizens are under threat by simple virtue of having to share a democracy with others. I think as long as they see Americanness as the same, as one, with whiteness, this is going to continue. We have to figure out how to get every American a place at the table in this democracy, but how to separate Americanness, America, from whiteness. Until we can confront that and talk about that, this is really going to continue. I was on Long Island this weekend visiting a really dear friend, and I was really disturbed. I saw dozens and dozens of pickup trucks with, you know, explicatives <\/em>[sic] <em>against Joe Biden on the back of them, Trump flags, and in some cases just dozens of American flags \u2014 which is also just disturbing, because essentially the message was clear. It was, \u2018This is my country. This is not your country. I own this.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cYes!\u201d Mika Brzezinski affirmed as Gay said the phrase, \u201cThis is not your country.\u201d Gay then continued:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"16\">\n<p><em>So, until we\u2019re ready to have that conversation, this is going to continue. What really is concerning to me, as well, is it\u2019s not just Democrats in Congress. I think there\u2019s a large percentage of Americans, even some of my colleagues in journalism, who are\u00a0invested in some way in pretending that this is not the threat that it is. That is the real concern. Because the Trump voters who are not going to get on board with democracy, they\u2019re a minority. You can marginalize them long-term. But if we don\u2019t take the threat seriously, then I think we\u2019re in really bad shape.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>She (and Mika Brzezinski) believe that the American flag is a \u201cdisturbing\u201d sign that rightly triggers vague, unspecified feelings of dread in reporters spanning the gamut from the New York Times to MSNBC.<\/p>\n<p>At a minimum, the segment showed representatives of the New York Times and MSNBC promoting the most baseless and uncharitable interpretation of American patriotism, then extrapolating from the most paranoid extrapolations of their animus. The same politically charged strawmen populate every discussion on left-wing cable news: Every Republican is a closet insurrectionist motivated by an ill-defined but still fully deplorable (and indictable) white supremacy.<\/p>\n<p>To reverse this revelation, the New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/nyt-defends-mara-gays-disturbing-american-flags-statement-social-media-pounds-them\">tried to gaslight<\/a> its readers by turning this into a \u201cconservatives pounce\u201d story. Its public relations team <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NYTimesPR\/status\/1402407267471867906\">rushed<\/a> out a comment claiming that Gay\u2019s comments had been \u201cirresponsibly taken out of context\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"7\">\n<p><em>New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay\u2019s comments on MSNBC have been irresponsibly taken out of context. She and MSNBC\u2019s Brian Williams <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealSaavedra\/status\/1235802419734269952\">went viral<\/a> when they insisted that 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Michael Bloomberg could have taken the $500 million he spent on ads and given all 328 million Americans a million dollars each.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"13.379501385042\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">MSNBC\u2019s Brian Williams reads a tweet: &#8220;Bloomberg spent $500 million on ads. At the presser, a Univision reporter named \u201cMaria Fernanda\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BonillaJL\/status\/1402406352127987717\">gushed<\/a> that interviewing Madam Vice President is \u201can honor, because I actually got to vote for the first time as a naturalized citizen, and I voted for you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The plot thickened, when the network revealed the woman, Maria Fernanda Reyes, is not actually employed by Univision. \u201cIn Mexico an individual which has no association with @Univision claimed to be a reporter for @UniNoticias in order to ask the @VP a question and to compliment @KamalaHarris; Let it be clear to everyone that Ms. Maria Fernanda Reyes is not part of this media organization,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2021\/jun\/8\/maria-fernanda-reyes-univision-tells-kamala-harris\/\">tweeted<\/a> Univision President Daniel Coronell.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.8529411764706\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In Mexico an individual which has no association with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Univision?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Univision<\/a> claimed to be a reporter for <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UniNoticias?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@UniNoticias<\/a> in order to ask the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VP?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@VP<\/a> a question and to compliment <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KamalaHarris?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@KamalaHarris<\/a>. While <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/15370\/party-affiliation.aspx\">23%<\/a> of Americans identify as Republican, only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/media\/2014\/05\/survey-7-percent-of-reporters-identify-as-republican-188053\">7%<\/a> of the media did, according to Politico \u2014 and that was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/the-fix\/wp\/2014\/05\/06\/just-7-percent-of-journalists-are-republicans-thats-far-less-than-even-a-decade-ago\/\">in 2013<\/a>, before the Trump administration. Not only that, but \u201cU.S. political journalists are overwhelmingly liberal,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2020\/04\/10\/journalists-may-be-liberal-this-doesnt-affect-which-candidates-they-choose-cover\/\">according<\/a> to the authors of a <a href=\"https:\/\/advances.sciencemag.org\/content\/6\/14\/eaay9344\">2020 study<\/a> on the political views of reporters. \u201cOf those who did say they identified with a political party, 8 in 10 said they were liberal\/Democrats.\u201d That filters into every aspect of their coverage, from featuring shirtless photos of Barack Obama as they described his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegouniontribune.com\/sdut-us-fea-lifestyles-presidential-pecs-042309-2009apr23-story.html\">glistening pecs<\/a> to cover photo shoots that launched fawning media coverage of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/media-fawn-over-kamala-harris-shoes-trashed-melanias\">Harris\u2019 footwear<\/a>. A reporter admitting this bias would be exceptionally unremarkable.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Brian Stelter asks Jen Psaki how CNN how the media can promote Democratic talking points<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>On Sunday Brian Stelter, the host of CNN\u2019s \u201cReliable Sources,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-asks-jen-psaki-how-it-can-help-push-joe-bidens-agenda\">asked<\/a> White House spin doctor Jen Psaki how she wished the media would cover her administration. \u201cWhat does the press get wrong when covering Biden\u2019s agenda? When you watch the news, when you read the news, what do you think we get wrong?\u201d he asked her.<\/p>\n<p>That question hurt the liberal agenda, because it exposed the underlying motivation of the legacy media: They\u2019re here to serve Democratic administrations (and, by extension, to oppose Republican ones). Here, he asks openly how he can help promote left-wing talking points.<\/p>\n<p>That brings us round-circle to the first point: Incompetent and venial Democrats filter their views through a reflexively anti-patriotic media that supports them so much it openly asks them how the press can help them do a better job of explaining Democratic positions than the Democrats are capable of doing themselves. It\u2019s a master-servant relationship of unequaled importance, openness, and subservience.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s just in the first half of the week.
