The drug manufacturer made the announcement on Thursday as nearly half of the 21 million doses of the vaccine remain unused and nearing expiration.<\/p>\n<p>Safety concerns about the COVID-19 shot resulted in decreased demand, leaving at least 13 lots of the vaccine nearing expiration as soon as June 27.<\/p>\n<p>White House senior adviser for coronavirus, Andrew Slavitt, stated they\u2019re working aggressively to administer doses and encourage states to work with the FDA on storage solutions to extend shelf life.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2420846\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2420846\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-2420846\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/andrews-656x437-1.jpg\" alt=\"FILE - Then-Acting Administrator of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Andy Slavitt speaks at a news conference at the Treasury Department in Washington, Wednesday, June 22, 2016.
