Mike Braun suggested to Attorney General Merrick Garland Wednesday that a report on domestic violence extremism placed disproportionate interest on the pro-life movement in a \u201cwild attack\u201d that identified \u201cabortion related violent extremists\u201d as a principal threat.<\/p>\n<p>Garland testified before a Senate subcommittee Wednesday where Braun brought up a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dni.gov\/index.php\/newsroom\/reports-publications\/reports-publications-2021\/item\/2194-unclassified-summary-of-assessment-on-domestic-violent-extremism\">declassified intelligence report<\/a> on domestic violence extremism released by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) in March. That report, Braun said, identified abortion related violent extremists as a principal threat. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/08\/03\/dc-police-arrest-defacing-property-pro-life-students-black-preborn-lives-matter\/\">(RELATED:\u00a0Police Made 4 Arrests For Defacing Property As DC Faced Occasional, Destructive Riots. Then They Arrested 2 Pro-Lifers For Writing \u2018Black Preborn Lives Matter\u2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo me this seemed like kind of a wild attack on the pro-life community,\u201d Braun said. \u201cIt did not list groups like BLM and Antifa, who have had a clear recent record of violent acts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo can you explain what that was about?,\u201d Braun asked. \u201cWhy there would have been focus on that, and has there been a rash of incidents related to it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Garland said that the report described leading threats that were racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists, particularly white supremacists, adding that he doesn\u2019t know where pro-life activists fit on the \u201cthreat matrix.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not my understanding that it is one of the ones that was listed at the high end of threat,\u201d Garland added. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/08\/05\/dc-defund-police-murial-bowser-first-amendment-pro-life\/\">(RELATED: DC Mayor\u2019s Arrest Of Pro-Lifers After Allowing \u2018Defund The Police\u2019 Message Is \u2018Viewpoint Discrimination,\u2019 First Amendment Expert Says)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt seems like there\u2019s a disproportionate interest or emphasis on one category and not the other,\u201d Braun said. \u201cIt\u2019s going to raise some eyebrows and then also bring into the question of \u2018is that effort being applied fairly across the board.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Garland noted that there is also a separate category of anti-government or anti-authority violent extremists.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis would be where some of the anarchists that you were just talking about would fall into that bucket and that\u2019s another area of focus of the FBI,\u201d Garland added.<\/p>\n<p>The DNI report specifically mentions that abortion related violent extremists have ideological agendas in support of pro-life or pro-choice beliefs.
