It was said the incident, which involved 40-year-old Dewayne Craddock walking into his workplace and opening fire on coworkers, was motivated by perceived \u201cworkplace grievances\u201d that the shooter had felt for years.<\/p>\n<p>The report alleged that Craddock isolated himself from co-workers and for that reason, no one could have seen the attack coming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe heard shooting, but we didn\u2019t think it was that close, like in proximity to the building, so I just thank God they were able to alert us in time,\u201d recounted eyewitness Shelia Cook. \u201cBecause if it had been 10 minutes more, we all would have been outside.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">FBI Provides Final Briefing on the Virginia Beach Municipal Center Shooting to the Virginia Beach Police Department: The FBI has concluded its investigative assistance to the Virginia Beach Police Department regarding the mass shooting at the Virginia B\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4W0tPQVILV\">https:\/\/t.co\/4W0tPQVILV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 FBI Norfolk (@FBINorfolk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FBINorfolk\/status\/1402626575611228161?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 9, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBasically it was like, this is not a drill, get down, call 9-1-1 and that\u2019s when&nbsp; I called 9-1-1,\u201d recounted eyewitness Megan Banton. \u201cAnd we all just ran in our office and closed the door.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report added that the shooter seemed to feel \u201ccriticized and slighted,\u201d and that violence was his way of seeking retribution. In an interview with the Associated Press, Jason Nixon, who\u2019s wife was killed in the shooting, said Craddock didn\u2019t receive a promotion. This is something that allegedly made him very upset.<\/p>\n<p>The Virginia Beach Police Department said that Craddock started to have trouble with work performance in 2017, though they concluded they couldn\u2019t fully determine a motive.
