(AP Photo\/Matt Slocum, File)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 7:09 AM PT \u2013 Thursday, June 10, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>Dozens of health care workers at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonmethodist.org\/locations\/texas-medical-center\/?utm_source=gmb&amp;utm_medium=organic&amp;utm_campaign=all_front_door_gmb&amp;utm_content=website-click\">Houston Methodist Hospital<\/a> in Texas are suspended for refusing to receive a coronavirus vaccine. According to reports Wednesday, at least 178 hospital employees are refusing to comply with forced vaccinations while another 285 workers claimed religious or medical exemptions.<\/p>\n<p>The suspended health workers recently took part in a demonstration while arguing vaccine mandates violate their constitutional rights and medical privacy under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/hipaa\/for-professionals\/privacy\/index.html\">HIPAA<\/a>. They added, COVID-19 vaccines have not been fully approved as safe by the FDA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey need to give people choices, they can\u2019t force things upon people that they are not are not comfortable with,\u201d stated Jennifer Bridges, a nurse at Houston Methodist Hospital. \u201cIf I have to eat ramen noodles for a month or two, I\u2019m okay with that because the rest of my life, my heath and my family are more important than money or this job.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Employees across the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MethodistHosp?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MethodistHosp<\/a> system are gathering outside the Baytown hospital to support one another.
