(EcoHealth) a grant entitled \u201cUnderstanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence.\u201d This grant allowed EcoHealth to \u201c[t]est predictions of [coronavirus]\u2026transmission\u2026using reverse genetics\u2026\u201d Funds from this grant were subsequently awarded to the WIV. Using your own definition, it appears the NIH funded gain-of-function research at the WIV.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>On May 11, 2021, while testifying under oath, you stated, \u201c[t]he NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the [WIV].\u201d This appears to contradict your 2012 statement regarding gain-of-function research and the WIV.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Can you please confirm the authenticity of the 2012 video accessible on the YouTube platform? Further, please verify that the 2014 grant description is accurate and explain the apparent discrepancy in your recent testimony?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Committee on Oversight and Reform is the principal oversight committee of the U.S. House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate \u201cany matter\u201d at \u201cany time\u201d under House Rule X. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this inquiry.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Fauci has responded to the criticism that he is receiving by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fauci-on-people-skeptical-of-his-claims-they-dont-understand-that-science-is-a-dynamic-process\">repeatedly<\/a> appearing on MSNBC where he has claimed that the criticisms were \u201creally very much an attack on science.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s happening now, is very much an anti-science approach,\u201d Fauci <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fauci-responds-to-being-criticized-anti-science-all-nonsense-fabricated-inappropriate\">claimed<\/a>. \u201cI mean, it is what it is, I\u2019m a public figure, I\u2019m going to take the arrows and the swings, but they\u2019re just, they\u2019re fabricated. And that\u2019s just what it is \u2026 it\u2019s all nonsense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is important to understand that, but it is being approached now in a very vehement way, in a very distorted way, I believe by attacking me,\u201d he claimed, later adding that he believes that he has \u201cbecome the object of extraordinary \u2026 completely inappropriate, distorted, misleading and misrepresented attacks, which, you know, it is what it is, but it\u2019s happening.
