Kelly has been recently released from prison in 2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Verdict: False<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Bureau of Prisons records show Kelly remains in prison as of the time of publication.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kelly was arrested and indicted in Chicago in July 2019 on charges including producing and receiving child pornography and obstruction of justice,\u00a0the Department of Justice (DOJ) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-ndil\/pr\/recording-artist-r-kelly-arrested-federal-child-pornography-and-obstruction-charges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> in a press release. In New York, he also faces a separate indictment for charges including racketeering, sexual exploitation of minors and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/wex\/mann_act#:~:text=The%20Mann%20Act%20(also%20known,for%20any%20other%20immoral%20purpose.%E2%80%9D&#038;text=The%20committees%20believed%20that%20no,unless%20drugged%20or%20held%20captive.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mann Act<\/a> violations, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/03\/13\/us\/r-kelly-updated-indictment-in-new-york\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NipseyHussleEnt\/posts\/1161247717672133\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">viral Facebook post<\/a> from June 3 attempts to suggest Kelly, who has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/entertainment-arts-40635526#:~:text=He%20is%20currently%20facing%20multiple,has%20consistently%20denied%20the%20claims.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">denied<\/a> the accusations, was recently released from prison, saying, \u201cR Kelly out.\u201d It features a photo of the singer and another man walking away from fencing with barbed wire on it.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to this claim, Kelly has not been released from prison at this time. As of June 8, the Federal Bureau of Prisons\u2019 inmate locator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bop.gov\/inmateloc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lists<\/a> him as being housed at Chicago\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bop.gov\/locations\/institutions\/ccc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Metropolitan Correctional Center<\/a>. Check Your Fact also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=R.+Kelly+released&#038;oq=R.+Kelly+released+&#038;aqs=chrome..69i57j0i10i22i30j0i22i30l3j69i60l3.7089j0j7&#038;sourceid=chrome&#038;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">didn\u2019t find<\/a> any local or national media outlets reporting Kelly had been let out of prison this year. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/02\/19\/fact-check-disney-ceo-bob-chapek-jail-abusing-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Is Disney CEO Bob Chapek In Jail For Abusing Children?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In April, a federal judge approved plans to transport him to New York for an August trial on the charges filed against him there, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/entertainment\/celebrities\/2021\/04\/15\/r-kelly-sex-trafficking-trial-moving-to-nyc-judge-rules\/7242423002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Associated Press<\/a> reported. He is set to face another trial in Chicago later in this year, though that trial may be postponed due to the timing of the first one, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/amp\/s\/www.newsweek.com\/when-r-kelly-federal-trial-what-he-charged-1580940%3famp=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Newsweek<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While the photo included in the Facebook post does show Kelly leaving a correctional facility, it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apimages.com\/metadata\/Index\/APTOPIX-R-Kelly-Chicago\/2bf64bf4034942d99137b19a1923caa3\/225\/0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">predates<\/a> his July 2019 arrest.
