As senior Manhattan Institute fellow Christopher Rufo noted, the Left has now \u201cdeployed former president Barack Obama to defend, downplay, and deflect from critical race theory.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe are making progress,\u201d commented Rufo. \u201cKeep pushing forward.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Beyond conservative politicians and pundits, the groups most responsible for the progress toward purging critical theory from education systems are led by parents banding together in the interest of their children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Here are four examples.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Parents Against Critical Theory<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>A group of parents is organizing to root critical race theory out of Loudoun County Public Schools in Virginia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stoplcpscrt.com\/\"><span>Parents Against Critical Theory<\/span><\/a><span> (PACT) exists to \u201ceducate the public about the radical indoctrination in K-12 and its existential threats\u201d and \u201cmobilize and empower parents all over the country\u2026 to organize and become actively involved in the disruption and dismantling of Critical Race Theory.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In addition to maintaining a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/stoplcpscrt.com\/what-is-crt\/crt-glossary\/\"><span>glossary<\/span><\/a><span> of social justice terms so that parents can understand what their children are absorbing through government schools, PACT launched a fundraiser to oppose a group of parents seeking to \u201cexpose\u201d other parents who disagree with critical theory. However, after a former Loudoun County School Board Equity Committee member encouraged citizens to report PACT\u2019s fundraiser to GoFundMe, the charity platform caved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cGoFundMe canceled my campaign because they are weak, afraid to push back, and are unwilling to reach out to the very people running campaigns they shut down because of hysterical activist groups or equity committees,\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/gofundme-caves-to-activists-pulls-fundraiser-for-parent-group-fighting-critical-race-theory\"><span>explained<\/span><\/a><span> Scott Mineo \u2014 the leader of PACT \u2014 to The Daily Wire. \u201cWhat LCPS doesn\u2019t understand is that I\u2019m not going away and I will continue to expose their false narrative.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Parents Defending Education<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/defendinged.org\/\"><span>Parents Defending Education<\/span><\/a><span> is unifying parents across the country to oppose critical theory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Through \u201cnetwork and coalition building, investigative reporting, litigation, and engagement on local, state, and national policies,\u201d the organization is \u201cfighting indoctrination in the classroom \u2014 and for the restoration of a healthy, non-political education for our kids.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The group built an \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/defendinged.org\/map\/\"><span>IndoctriNation Map<\/span><\/a><span>,\u201d which allows parents to submit leftist educational materials from their school districts and find other parents in their area who are working against critical theory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Nicole Neily \u2014 the leader of Parents Defending Education who also serves as president of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/speechfirst.org\/bio-nicole-neily\/\"><span>Speech First<\/span><\/a><span> \u2014 explained to The Washington Times that biased education is becoming increasingly <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2021\/mar\/30\/parents-defending-education-fights-critical-race-t\/\"><span>ubiquitous<\/span><\/a><span> across the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThere\u2019s this feeling among some that this is just a New York and California thing, but it\u2019s not; it\u2019s everywhere,\u201d said Neily. \u201cIt\u2019s in private schools, parochial schools and red states.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIf you want to send your kid to Social Justice Country Day, you\u2019re free to do so, but we must do what we can to not allow the imposition of these top-down solutions,\u201d she added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Alliance to Protect Children<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Alliance to Protect Children is tracking legislative proposals in California that exist to push critical race theory and LGBTQ-themed sex education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The organization suggests that parents campaign in support of particular legislation \u2014 such as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220SB217\"><span>Senate Bill 217<\/span><\/a><span>, which would require school districts to specify \u201chow parents and guardians of pupils may inspect the written and audiovisual educational materials used in comprehensive sexual health education and HIV prevention education.\u201d The organization also brings what they view as dangerous bills \u2014 such as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220AB465\"><span>Assembly Bill 465<\/span><\/a><span>, which would mandate \u201cat least one hour of instruction in cultural competency\u201d for teachers renewing their licenses \u2014 to the public eye.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Alliance to Protect Children\u2019s blog features perspectives from parents and students on the spread of critical theory within California schools. For instance, one seventh grader \u2014 whose parents pulled her from a charter school after the state passed new sex education requirements \u2014 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alliancetpc.org\/post\/opinion-from-a-7th-grader\"><span>writes<\/span><\/a><span> that \u201cwhat the schools are teaching students is not right or acceptable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cDistricts in the State are choosing to teach children inappropriate things, such as encouraging kids to be their own boss,\u201d she wrote. \u201cThey are telling children they can be a boy or a girl, maybe even both without their parents knowledge and permission.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Oregonians for Liberty in Education<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.libertyineducation.org\/about-us\"><span>Oregonians for Liberty in Education<\/span><\/a><span> are exposing the state government\u2019s efforts to promote critical race theory in schools throughout the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The group \u2014 which believes \u201cthe primary authority and responsibility for a child\u2019s education rests with parents and guardians\u201d \u2014 discovered through a public records <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.libertyineducation.org\/blog\/the-oregon-department-of-educationpaid-50k-for-two-nikole-hannah-jones-webinars\"><span>request<\/span><\/a><span> that the Oregon Department of Education paid 1619 Project founder Nikole Hannah-Jones $50,000 from a fund meant to address absenteeism for disadvantaged children.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On May 7, Hannah-Jones delivered a speech called \u201c1619: Centering Black History and Black Futures in Oregon\u201d to teachers. On May 13, she spoke to teachers on \u201chow the historical events detailed in the 1619 Project can and should inform how we create the conditions of belonging for Black students, families, and educators in Oregon.\u201d The New York Times journalist made $25,000 for each virtual event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cDiverting funds from \u2018Every Day Matters,\u2019 ODE\u2019s program to provide practical solutions to support showing up for school, is concerning,\u201d commented Oregonians for Liberty in Education. \u201cThe program provides toolkits for teachers and families so at-risk students can connect to services and learn executive function skills and healthy habits.
