The U.S. Army initially said it had found a \u201cflying disk\u201d but later said the debris came from a high-altitude weather balloon, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/60afc899fb914549b721b9d097e7b18f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Associated Press<\/a>. A 1995 Government Accountability Office report <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govinfo.gov\/content\/pkg\/GAOREPORTS-NSIAD-95-187\/html\/GAOREPORTS-NSIAD-95-187.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">found<\/a> the Air Force released information that concluded the likely source of the wreckage was a \u201cballoon-launched classified government project designed to determine the state of Soviet nuclear weapons research.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10223140146241204&#038;set=a.1472273976012&#038;type=3&#038;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">viral 2020 post<\/a> attempting to tie McConnell, Trump, Pence and Manafort to the Roswell incident recently resurfaced on Facebook. It alleges they were all born in April 1948, nine months after the crash. That is not the case for any of those four political figures.<\/p>\n<p>The Encyclopedia Britannica website identifies the correct birth dates for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Donald-Trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trump<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Mike-Pence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pence<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Mitch-McConnell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">McConnell<\/a>. The birth dates listed by Britannica match those respectively listed on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/about-the-white-house\/presidents\/donald-j-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">White House website<\/a> for Trump, the <a href=\"https:\/\/trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov\/people\/mike-pence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">archived Trump White House website<\/a> for Pence and the <a href=\"https:\/\/bioguideretro.congress.gov\/Home\/MemberDetails?memIndex=m000355\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Biographical Directory of the U.S. Congress website<\/a> for McConnell.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Mike-Pence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pence<\/a>, the youngest of the four men, was born June 7, 1959, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Donald-Trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trump<\/a> was born June 14, 1946. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Mitch-McConnell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">McConnell<\/a>, the oldest of the four mentioned in the Facebook post, was born on Feb. 20, 1942. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/05\/08\/fact-check-nine-democratic-politicans-born-1947-roswell-ufo-incident\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Were These Nine Politicians Born 9 Months After The 1947 Roswell UFO Incident?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Manafort\u2019s birthday appears on an archived page from the University of California, Santa Barbara\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110522041546\/http:\/\/www.presidency.ucsb.edu\/ws\/?pid=43806\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American Presidency Project<\/a>. He was born April 1, 1949, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110522041546\/http:\/\/www.presidency.ucsb.edu\/ws\/?pid=43806\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">that archived page<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biography.com\/political-figure\/paul-manafort\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Biography.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Facebook post contains a line \u2013 \u201cThis is the obvious consequence of alien breeding with sheep and jackasses\u201d \u2013 that suggests it was meant to be satirical. However, many users still appeared to think the four were born nine months after the Roswell incident.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=2621856031209174&#038;set=a.123144207747048&#038;type=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">similar meme<\/a> inaccurately claiming nine Democratic politicians, including former President Bill Clinton and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, were born nine months after the Roswell incident previously circulated on social media.
