Rockefeller, is directly related to former White House Chief of Staff John Podesta and the late Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CPlDMVeHf_V\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"13\" readability=\"-7.5157894736842\"><\/blockquote>\n<p><span><strong>Verdict: False<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>There is no evidence the three men are directly related in any capacity.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Instagram <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CPlDMVeHf_V\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;ig_rid=e325723a-8fd5-456b-8009-193cd3aef0b8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">post<\/a> shows three black-and-white photos of Laurance Rockefeller, Podesta and Bennington. Text in the image reads: \u201cThis is Laurence (sic) Rockefeller, his \u2018son\u2019 pedophile John Podesta, and his son Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/id\/wbna5417300\">Laurance Rockefeller<\/a>, a venture capitalist and philanthropist, died in 2004 at the age of 94, according to his biography on the <a href=\"https:\/\/rockarch.org\/resources\/about-the-rockefellers\/laurance-s-rockefeller\/\">Rockefeller Archive Center<\/a> website, and Bennington died of suicide in 2017 at the age of 41, <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/music\/chester-bennington-dead-suicide\/\">People Magazine<\/a> reported. John Podesta is currently a visiting professor of law at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/faculty\/john-podesta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Georgetown University Law Center<\/a> and is a member of the board of directors for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/person\/podesta-john\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Center for American Progress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Check Your Fact found no evidence that the three men are directly related. Laurance Rockefeller\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2004\/07\/12\/business\/laurance-s-rockefeller-passionate-conservationist-and-investor-is-dead-at-94.html\">obituary<\/a> published in The New York Times states that he has four children: three daughters and one son, <a href=\"https:\/\/nylcv.org\/state-board-member\/larry-rockefeller\/\">Larry Rockefeller<\/a>. Podesta, who died in 1980, according to his mother Mary K. Podesta\u2019s 2007 obituary in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressreader.com\/usa\/chicago-sun-times\/20070312\/282462819468830\">Chicago Sun Times<\/a>. John D. Podesta\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newspapers.com\/clip\/45578811\/obituary-for-john-d-podesta\/\">1980 obituary<\/a> published in the Chicago Tribune also shows John Podesta listed as his son. <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/05\/31\/fact-check-john-podesta-not-sentenced-death-military-commission\/\">(RELATED: No, John Podesta Was Not Sentenced To Death By A Military Commission)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is somewhat unclear if the post is alleging that Chester Bennington is the son of John Podesta or Laurance Rockefeller, but both claims are inaccurate. An obituary for Chester Bennington published by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2017\/jul\/21\/chester-bennington-obituary\">The Guardian<\/a> identifies his father as Lee Russell Bennington, \u201ca police detective who often worked on child abuse cases.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Instagram post seems to make a reference to the unfounded \u201cPizzagate\u201d conspiracy theory, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politifact.com\/factchecks\/2020\/oct\/07\/facebook-posts\/four-years-later-theres-still-no-evidence-support-\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">baselessly alleged<\/a> John Podesta\u2019s leaked emails proved that he, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other prominent Democrats operated a child sex trafficking ring out of a Washington, D.C., pizza restaurant, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2016\/12\/10\/business\/media\/pizzagate.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An image shared on Instagram claims Laurance Rockefeller, the late grandson of oil tycoon John D.
