That\u2019s neither legal nor constitutional, and neither was the school\u2019s move to place Tanner on leave.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stacy Haney, an attorney for the school system, has accused Cross of disrupting the school setting with his comments, and claimed that the school\u2019s decision was not based on his belief but on the disruption, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.loudountimes.com\/news\/updated-judge-to-rule-monday-on-whether-to-reinstate-suspended-lcps-teacher\/article_cc54505e-c569-11eb-b108-e3ebc589fa9b.html\">reports<\/a> the Loudoun Times.<\/p>\n<p>After ADF sent a letter to the district concerning his suspension and requesting Cross be reinstated, the school responded \u201cby doubling down on its unconstitutional actions and stating that it intends to stand by its decision to suspend Cross,\u201d ADF said in a press release. \u201cIn response, ADF attorneys filed suit against the school district Tuesday and <a href=\"https:\/\/adfmedialegalfiles.blob.core.windows.net\/files\/CrossPI-TROmotion.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">asked the court<\/a> to immediately halt the enforcement of Cross\u2019s suspension.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The school board\u2019s action to suspend Cross violated the Virginia Constitution and Cross\u2019 free exercise of religion protected under the First Amendment, says ADF.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLoudoun County Public Schools officials suspended an elementary school teacher for voicing his objections to two proposed school policies during the public comment period of a school board meeting,\u201d ADF emphasized. \u201cThe policies would force teachers to violate their beliefs by requiring them to address students with their chosen pronouns rather than the ones consistent with their biological sex.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/va-teacher-placed-on-administrative-leave-after-refusing-to-affirm-trans-identity-for-kids-citing-faith\">The Daily Wire<\/a>, below is a portion of Cross\u2019 comments to the school board which led to his suspension:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"32.757174392936\">\n<p><em>\u201cMy name is Tanner Cross and I am speaking out of love for those who are suffering from gender dysphoria,\u201d Cross said during his brief speech, which referenced school district policies demanding Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) staff use preferred pronouns and \u201callow gender-expansive and transgender students to participate in such activities in a manner consistent with the student\u2019s gender identity.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Referring to an explosive \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/60-minutes-runs-explosive-segment-featuring-young-transgender-individuals-who-decided-to-reverse-course\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">60 Minutes<\/a>\u201d investigation that aired Sunday about young people regretting their transitions, Cross continued, \u201c\u201960 Minutes\u2019 this past Sunday interviewed over 30 young people who transitioned but they felt led astray because of lack of pushback or how easy it was to make physical changes to their bodies in just three months. They are now detransitioning.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s not my intention to hurt anyone, but there are certain truths that we must face when ready. We condemn school policies [that] would damage children, defile the holy image of God,\u201d he continued.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI love all of my students but I will never lie to them regardless of the consequences.
