NBC Montana <a href=\"https:\/\/nbcmontana.com\/news\/local\/arizona-voting-system-data-sent-to-montana-lab-as-part-of-latest-audit\">reports<\/a> that Senate Liaison Ken Bennett\u00a0confirmed that the lab site is run by Cotton.<\/p>\n<p>Cotton, who has over 25 years experience in computer forensics, made headlines last month when he said a voting database was \u201cdeleted\u201d by county officials.\u00a0Some news stations have claimed that Cotton has since \u201crecanted\u201d his \u201caccusations\u201d about the deleted data, though Cotton told officials in mid-May that he was able to \u201crecover all of those deleted files.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been able to recover all of those deleted files, and I have access to that data,\u201d Cotton <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=iwN_ZwSMCW0\">told<\/a>\u00a0officials.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, a critic of the audit, <a href=\"https:\/\/azsos.gov\/about-office\/media-center\/documents\/coliseum-observer-notes-2021\">posted<\/a> notes to her website about potential problems in the ongoing review that included the confirmation of the data being transferred to a lab in Montana. Among her series of observations about the ongoing audit \u2014 which she described as plagued by \u201cproblematic practices, changing policies, and security threats\u201d \u2014\u00a0Hobbs wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"10\">\n<p><em>Observation: On May 24, 2021, Senate Liaison Ken Bennett confirmed that copies of voting system data was sent to a lab in Montana. He did not specify what security measures were in place, or what the lab in Montana will do with the data or how long it will be in possession of the copies.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBennett said the lab has data downloaded from the hard drives Maricopa County used in the election, which he says they physically picked up and drove to Montana,\u201d NBC Montana reported. \u201cHe said it may or may not include voter registration data, and some of it could be sensitive. He says Cyber Ninjas picked CyFIR to review the data.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe original evidence was left completely intact,\u201d Bennett <a href=\"https:\/\/nbcmontana.com\/news\/local\/arizona-voting-system-data-sent-to-montana-lab-as-part-of-latest-audit\">told<\/a> 12 News. \u201cA copy was taken to do whatever evaluation they are doing for Cyber Ninjas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sec. Hobbs is displeased that the lab now has the data. \u201cThey\u2019re making it up as they go along,\u201d she told 12 News. \u201cThese things are all very concerning, and really undermine whatever results they might come up with.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\" readability=\"58.449740932642\">\n<p>The Secretary of State has also complained that her observers were made to wear pink t-shirts during the auditing procedures and has alleged they were made fun of over the shirts, a claim Bennett dismissed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWhat we\u2019ve noticed is they are using these shirts to label our observers as pinko-commies, that the shirt made him look like a \u2018transgender,\u2019 which I don\u2019t even know what that means,\u201d Hobbs said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwqc.com\/2021\/06\/04\/arizona-ballot-audit-plagued-with-irregularities-official-claims\/\">according<\/a> to CNN. \u201cI mean, I think this whole thing is a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bennett said he\u00a0\u201claughed out loud\u201d when he saw Hobb\u2019s\u00a0report, which he slammed as \u201cuntrue,\u201d \u201cinconsequential\u201d and \u201ca bunch of B.S.,\u201d CNN reports.
