The decision was handed down by U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Benitez stated that the ban denied residents of their Second Amendment right. In his nine page ruling he mentioned, \u201clike the swiss army knife\u2026 the popular AR-15 rifle is a perfect combination of home defense weapon and homeland defense equipment\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to slam false narratives presented by the mainstream media saying, \u201ca Californian is three times more likely to be murdered by an attacker\u2019s bare hands, fists or feet than by his rifle\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">On National Gun Violence Awareness Day, a federal judge in California just ruled that the state\u2019s assault weapons ban is unconstitutional comparing the AR-15 \u2013 a weapon capable of causing a massacre in mere seconds \u2013 to a Swiss Army knife. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AqNtnJrw3A\">pic.twitter.com\/AqNtnJrw3A<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Andrew Weinstein (@Weinsteinlaw) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Weinsteinlaw\/status\/1401028696044191747?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 5, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) took to Twitter on Saturday to slam Benitez by claiming this decision is a direct threat to the public safety of California residents.
