The meme showed an unhappy couple, with the woman saying, \u201cI know I said it would be over between us if you quoted another Linkin Park song but I\u2019ve found someone else.\u201d The man responds, \u201cSo in the end it didn\u2019t even matter?\u201d Musk added the cryptic caption, \u201c#Bitcoin,\u201d alongside the heart-breaking emoji.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Two hours later, Musk added further confusion by posting an image of a couple in a long-distance relationship, communicating by video call while both are lying in bed. The woman is saying, \u201cI miss you.\u201d When the man appears to be tearing up, she asks, \u201cWhy are you crying?\u201d The man, who is actually watching market value graphs which appear to be in free-fall, says, \u201cCuz I miss you too.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"3.25\">\n<p lang=\"und\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MLhu6oOwgc\">pic.twitter.com\/MLhu6oOwgc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1400645833150840835?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 4, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>As <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/elon-musk-breaking-up-with-bitcoin-cryptocurrencies-slide-after-cryptic-tweet\/\"><span>CNET<\/span><\/a><span> reported, \u201c<\/span><span>Following the tweet, Bitcoin fell more than 4.5% to around $36,823 as of 9 a.m. PT on Friday. Ethereum, Dogecoin and other cryptocurrencies were also down.\u201d Toward the end of Friday, the value of Bitcoin declined even further to $37,772. The Wall Street Journal added, \u201c<\/span><span>Ether dropped 4.2% from its 5 p.m. Thursday level to $2,702.23. Dogecoin, another favorite of Mr. Musk\u2019s, declined 4.7% to about 38 cents.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe two posts elicited thousands of comments, including images of a shuddering man, as well as requests to \u2018leave us alone\u2019 and \u2018stop manipulating.\u2019 They also prompted some <\/span><span>Twitter<\/span><span> users to block Mr. Musk, but that hasn\u2019t made a dent in his more than 55 million followers,\u201d added The Wall Street Journal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>After the market dip, Musk was reportedly slammed at the Bitcoin 2021 conference, according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/technology\/elon-musk-bitcoin-2021-conference\"><span>Fox Business<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span><span>Max Keiser, host of the \u2018Keiser Report,\u2019 began his fireside chat by repeating, \u2018F*** Elon!\u2019 several times,\u201d reported Fox Business, while Michael Saylor, \u201c<\/span><span>co-founder of the business intelligence company MicroStrategy and a staunch Bitcoin defender,\u201d rejected Musk\u2019s earlier concern regarding the environmental impact of Bitcoin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cBitcoin is the most efficient use of energy that the human race has yet come up with,\u201d said Saylor. \u201cI think that Bitcoin is an extraordinarily disruptive, beneficial technology to the entire energy industry, and as I studied it, it became clear to me that it\u2019s the highest-value use of intermittent energy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt\u2019s the highest-value use of renewable energy. It\u2019s the highest-value use of wasted or stranded energy.
