Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, the White House said Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Republicans leading efforts <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/01\/joe-biden-meeting-gop-shelley-moore-capito-bipartisan-infrastructure-plan\/\">to reach a bipartisan compromise<\/a> on infrastructure legislation had proposed a $50 billion increase in spending compared to Republicans\u2019 previous offer. Kirkpatrick\/Pool\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Biden also told Capito \u201che would continue to engage a number of senators in both parties in the hopes of achieving a more substantial package,\u201d the White House said. The two have agreed to speak again Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Capito and her colleagues have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capito.senate.gov\/news\/in-the-news\/us-senate-republicans-put-forward-928-billion-infrastructure-counteroffer\">proposed an infrastructure plan<\/a> that would cost $928 billion over eight years, but only $257 billion would be new spending, more than what Congress was expected to approve. The offer was made after Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/white-house-says-it-has-pared-down-infrastructure-proposal-17-trillion-2021-05-21\/\">proposed<\/a> a revised $1.7 trillion infrastructure plan, less than the original $2.3 trillion plan <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/31\/joe-biden-infrastructure-plan-trump-tax-corporate-cuts\/\">he unveiled in<\/a> late March.<\/p>\n<p>Psaki told reporters during a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2021\/06\/03\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-june-3-2021\/\">press briefing<\/a> Thursday that the administration was open to a \u201crange of options\u201d on infrastructure. Biden made another concession to Republicans this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/03\/joe-biden-corporate-tax-15-percent-infrastructure-republicans\/\">offering to replace<\/a> his proposed corporate tax rate hike with a 15% minimum corporate rate. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/03\/jen-psaki-pete-buttigieg-infrastructure-talks\/\">(RELATED: Psaki Dismisses Buttigieg\u2019s Timeline For \u2018Clear Direction\u2019 On Infrastructure Talks)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Biden also spoke Friday afternoon to Democratic Oregon Rep. Peter DeFazio, chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, the White House said. The committee is expected to mark up an infrastructure plan introduced by House Democrats that encompasses much of the president\u2019s plan, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/autos-transportation\/us-house-democrats-propose-547-billion-surface-transport-plan-2021-06-04\/\">according<\/a> to Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>The two agreed on \u201cthe benefits of continued engagement with Democratic and Republican senators as the House works on infrastructure advances this coming week,\u201d Psaki said in her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/06\/04\/statement-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-on-the-presidents-calls-with-senator-shelley-moore-capito-and-house-transportation-and-infrastructure-chairman-peter-defazio\/\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Joe Biden has rejected an infrastructure offer from a group of Senate Republicans led by Sen.
