It is not a real statue.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The image shows what appears to be a replica of the Statue of Liberty made from the rubble of a destroyed building. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/nabendu.goswami.3\/posts\/2973184043009164\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">caption<\/a> of the Facebook post reads, \u201cA Syrian artist in Aleppo built this replica of the Statue of Liberty with the remains of his home, adding the slogan \u2018This is the freedom that they (the US) brought us.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Syria <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/event\/Syrian-Civil-War\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">has been engaged<\/a> in a bloody civil war since 2011. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.syriahr.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Syrian Observatory for Human Rights<\/a> reported over 387,000 people in Syria have been killed as a result of the conflict, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-middle-east-35806229\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BBC News<\/a>. The U.S. has been involved in the conflict over the years, including sending troops to Syria to support anti-Syrian government rebels and to fight the Islamic State, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/donald-trump-syria-islamic-state-group-middle-east-international-news-96701a254c5a448cb253f14ab697419b\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While the image is the work of a Syrian artist, it is not a real statue built from the rubble of a destroyed home. There is likewise no indication such a slogan was originally attached to the piece. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/03\/08\/fact-check-video-syrian-woman-donald-trump-joe-biden-bombing\/\">(RELATED: Does This Video Show A Syrian Woman Asking Donald Trump To Stop Joe Biden From Bombing Syria?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A reverse image search revealed the artwork comes Syrian artist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tammamazzam.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tammam Azzam<\/a>, who posted it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10151029297552353&#038;set=a.10150290455532353&#038;type=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on Facebook<\/a> in 2012. In the caption, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10151029297552353&#038;set=a.10150290455532353&#038;type=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">described<\/a> the piece as a \u201cphotomontage,\u201d the combining of multiple images to create a single image.
