I believe some may have been approved, or there was funding approved, during the prior administration \u2013 there\u2019s a framework, I should say, this is not meant to be a criticism \u2013 of funding and how it\u2019s approved through different NIH [National Institutes of Health] programs, but I would send you to them to give more of an explanation of the funding mechanisms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The White House also referred the Daily Caller to the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/28\/republicans-lab-leak-theory-tom-cotton-rand-paul-conspiracy\/\">NIH<\/a> when probed about where the administrations stands on whether the country should be funding research that makes dangerous pathogens more infectious to humans Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When asked specifically about Biden\u2019s stance on the subject, the White House ignored multiple requests for comment. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/19\/gain-of-function-research-joe-biden-white-house-national-institutes-of-health-covid-19-coronavirus-china\/\">(RELATED:\u00a0Will The White House Suspend Funding For Research That Can Cause Pandemics?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Psaki was also asked about <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/02\/joe-concha-dr-anthony-fauci-profiting-off-pandemic-new-bookexpect-the-unexpected\/\">Fauci<\/a> during the briefing. The Washington Post and Buzzfeed News published a slew of Fauci\u2019s emails from the early days of the pandemic. Some of these emails showed Fauci saying <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/02\/kristian-andersen-anthony-fauci-covid-engineered\/\">one thing<\/a> in private and another thing to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Psaki was asked if Fauci should \u201cbe held accountable\u201d if these emails are correct.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Fauci is a renowned public servant \u2013 a civil servant, I should say, a career civil servant.
