Hallam was also reportedly abusive to the man prior to their relationship ending and her falsely accusing him of rape. The \u201cfinal straw,\u201d the Chad reported, came when Hallam threw a table at the man.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite this, they continued to have an \u2018amicable relationship\u2019 and would meet on Sundays to have sex and spend the day together,\u201d the outlet reported, citing information presented in court. \u201cShe bought \u2018risque lingerie\u2019 in anticipation of meeting on Sunday, June 30, 2019, when they had consensual sex and later told friends how much she enjoyed it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after, however, the man told her he wanted to move on with his life, having met a woman in Thailand while on vacation. Prosecutor Stuart Lody told Nottingham Crown Court that Hallam\u2019s \u201clove turned into rage\u201d after learning this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt may have been that he would have ended up in the dock were it not for two factors,\u201d Lody said, according to the Chad. The first factor was what Lody described as the \u201cassiduous detective work\u201d of detective constable Rachel Sissions, who initially suspected Hallam was lying. The second factor was Hallam\u2019s attempts to \u201cembroil friends in her lies,\u201d Lody said, describing how Hallam spread rumors on Facebook that her ex was \u201ca thief, had raped her, and was generally a bad man.\u201d A friend of Hallam\u2019s actually told police that \u201cthey were about to be lied to.\u201d Hallam\u2019s friend also told police that the bruises Hallam claimed she received from the \u201crape\u201d were actually caused by a medical condition.<\/p>\n<p>Police also reviewed text messages between Hallam and her ex-husband that showed the truth.<\/p>\n<p>Hallam\u2019s ex-husband told the court that he was paranoid that her false accusations would make people believe he was a sex offender.<\/p>\n<p>Even though she pleaded guilty, Hallam maintained she was telling the truth, which led to her relatively lengthy prison sentence. Most women who make false accusations \u2013 even against named individuals who see their reputations harmed \u2013 receive little to no jail time.<\/p>\n<p>Digby Johnson, who mitigated on behalf of Hallam, sought sympathy for the woman because she had not prior convictions and had a disabled daughter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn her mind they were going to spend the rest of their lives together,\u201d Johnson said of Hallam\u2019s thoughts regarding her ex-husband. He added that their \u201congoing contact\u201d was \u201cconfusing\u201d to Hallam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s clear that her obsession with him is certainly something that festers within her,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cShe feels she was used. She has responded in a criminal way. She bitterly regrets the effect this will have on her daughter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Judge Stuart Rafferty, however, didn\u2019t mince words when he addressed Hallam\u2019s deceit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou had every opportunity to say either, \u2018I have made a mistake\u2019, or \u2018actually it didn\u2019t happen,\u2019\u201d Rafferty said. \u201cEven now you steadfastly refuse to do it. Why? Undoubtedly the answer lies within the psychological report.
