Rand Paul expressed concern that U.S. funding may still be used by the Chinese communist regime to research and develop biological weapons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI\u2019m very worried that this stuff still goes on and that the U.S. government\u2019s been funding it,\u201d Paul <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/vhv6fb-sen-paul-provides-chilling-warning-on-whats-happening-in-wuhab-lab-right-no.html\"><span>told<\/span><\/a><span> Pirro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Senator then proceeded to discuss \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/books\/NBK285579\/\">gain-of-function<\/a>\u201d research, which involves studying methods to increase a microorganism\u2019s transmissibility or virulence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cGain-of-function is basically when you have an animal virus that normally just infects animals, and you somehow mutate it or force it to evolve so it can affect humans. So it\u2019s making it more transmissible to humans, and oftentimes making it more dangerous or deadly in humans,\u201d Paul said. \u201c<\/span><span>I\u2019ll give you an example. In 2004, there was a virus, a coronavirus called SARS. It killed a bunch of people. It had a 15 percent mortality.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIn the Wuhan lab, they were studying this SARS virus, and they were putting new proteins on it to make it more infectious to humans,\u201d Paul continued. \u201cThat\u2019s gain-of-function. That\u2019s dangerous. And that may be how this virus started. And so, I\u2019m very worried that this stuff still goes on, and that the U.S. government is funding it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last week, it was reported that the<\/span><span>\u00a0Biden State Department \u201cended an inquiry into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic that was investigating whether the virus stemmed from a leak out of the Wuhan Institute of Virology<\/span><span>,\u201d according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/biden-state-department-shut-down-team-covid-origin-investigation\"><span>Fox News<\/span><\/a><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On this subject, Pirro asked why the Biden administration would decide to \u201c<\/span><span>stop the investigation into the origins of the Wuhan virus,\u201d especially given China\u2019s efforts to prevent transparency regarding the initial outbreak and the virus\u2019 origins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI think there\u2019s been a sea-change in the last two or three weeks on this. A year ago, anybody who mentioned the possibility that this virus came out of the Wuhan lab were dismissed as crazy right-wing cooks, conspiracy theorists, etc,\u201d Paul said. \u201cBut now you have even MSNBC coming around. You have the left starting to wonder about it. When I introduced my amendment to say we should quit funding this research in China, I ended up getting every Democrat on board.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cSo I think they either know information, or they suspect that this information is gonna get stronger and stronger, that this came from the lab,\u201d Paul continued. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe\u2019ve got a lot of evidence point to this lab now,\u201d Paul added, later.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Pirro then asked the Senator why \u201cgain-of-function\u201d research is even carried out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThey say they\u2019re doing it so that they can study these viruses that jump from animals to humans. The problem is that they are creating something that\u2019s novel; they are creating something that doesn\u2019t exist in nature,\u201d Paul responded. \u201cWe\u2019re creating Frankenstein super-viruses that, if they leak out of the lab, accidentally or on purpose, could devastate the world. The SARS virus is fifteen times more deadly.
