The caption of the video reads, \u201cVolcano eruption in Congo\u2026( Goma).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Congolese city of Goma was partially evacuated in the days after the eruption due to concerns of another eruption,\u00a0according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/05\/27\/world\/africa\/volcano-congo-goma-evacuation.html\">The New York Times<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/08\/29\/fact-check-video-fire-tornado-2020-california-wildfires\/\">(RELATED: Does This Video Show A Fire Tornado During The 2020 California Wildfires?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Through keyword and reverse image searches, Check Your Fact determined the footage in the Facebook video does not show the aftermath of the recent eruption in Congo. Rather, it depicts lava flows in Hawaii, which is home to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usgs.gov\/observatories\/hawaiian-volcano-observatory\/active-volcanoes-hawaii\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">multiple volcanos<\/a>, including Kilauea, a volcano that\u2019s East Rift Zone had, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usgs.gov\/volcanoes\/kilauea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">U.S. Geological Survey<\/a>, nearly continuous eruptive activity between 1983 and 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The Guardian published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/video\/2014\/nov\/13\/hawaii-kilauea-volcano-lava-pahoa-video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">footage<\/a> of lava from Kilauea flowing down a small, grassy hill near the Hawaiian town of Pahoa in November 2014 that matches the first 19 seconds of the Facebook video. Similar footage was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/video\/hawaii-lava-flow-closes-in-on-pahoa-transfer-station-356744771772\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">also posted<\/a> by NBC News with the title \u201cHawaii Lava Flow Closes in on Pahoa Transfer Station\u201d in November of that year.<\/p>\n<p>The short clip capturing a close-up view of magma coming out of black, cooled lava can be found at the roughly 2:42-mark of a <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/t0jWIyNzH5Q?t=162\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2016 video<\/a> posted by the YouTube channel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/BigislandflowHawaii\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Big Island Flow<\/a>.
