I\u2019m not believing you really feel that takes away your identity and your freedom,\u201d he said on the show, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/in-the-know\/in-the-know\/555944-mcconaughey-face-masks-a-short-term-inconvenience-for-long-term\">The Hill<\/a>. \u201cThis is a short-term inconvenience for long-term freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no data that says it\u2019s not a good [thing]. No data that says it\u2019s harmful,\u201d he added.&nbsp;\u201cLet\u2019s all take one for the team here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Regarding his rumored run for Texas governor, the Academy Award winner said he does not want to place a bunch of Band-Aids on a problem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not interested in going and putting a bunch of Band-Aids on that are gonna be ripped off as soon as I\u2019m out,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m interested in building something that can last, and I\u2019m measuring what category that is. They never get the credit for those. Though the \u201cInterstellar\u201d actor has not indicated if he got the vaccine, he did&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2021\/04\/roll-up-your-sleeves-presented-by-walgreens-vaccination-special-to-air-on-nbc-1234718547\/\">participate in a vaccination special<\/a>&nbsp;encouraging people to get it.<\/p>\n<p>In an Instagram video post for July 4th last year, the actor wished America a \u201cHappy Birthday\u201d while encouraging people to continue wearing masks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHappy 244th birthday, America,\u201d said McConaughey. \u201cWe is going through some growing pains on this one, aren\u2019t we? But growing pains are a good thing, because how the hell else are we going to grow up? I think we gotta look each other in the eye. I think we gotta look ourselves in the eye.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe gotta look in the mirror and ask ourselves, \u2018How can I be better? How can I expect more of myself and others? How can I be more responsible? How can I have more compassion? How can I have more courage? How can I be more fair?
