The fake Fox News chyron originated from the show \u201cReal Time with Bill Maher\u201d as satire.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10159270473031678&amp;set=a.61753471677&amp;type=3&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">image<\/a> appears to show a chyron from a Fox News broadcast that reads, \u201cBiden: Looting To Be Renamed \u2018Justice Shopping.&#8217;\u201d Included in the supposed report is a photo of Biden and picture of a Target store seemingly being looted.<\/p>\n<p>There is no evidence Biden announced the renaming of looting to \u201cjustice shopping.\u201d Searching for the phrase in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">presidential actions<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">briefing transcripts<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">speeches<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press releases<\/a> available on the White House website yielded no instances of the president proposing a measure to that effect. Factba.se, which has a database of Biden\u2019s public remarks, also <a href=\"https:\/\/factba.se\/biden\/search#justice%2Bshopping\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">doesn\u2019t have<\/a> any record of it.<\/p>\n<p>A search of the Fox News website did not yield <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/search-results\/search?q=Biden%20%22justice%20shopping%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">any results<\/a> for articles about Biden announcing the renaming of looting or a segment showing the chyron. The supposed Fox News chyron <a href=\"https:\/\/grabien.com\/clipsbank.php?transcript=justice%20shopping&amp;sources=Fox%20News%20Channel%20(FNC)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">doesn\u2019t appear<\/a> on the video-clip editing service Grabien, either.<\/p>\n<p>The fake chyron originated from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=518619205813608\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">segment<\/a> on comedian Bill Maher\u2019s show \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hbo.com\/real-time-with-bill-maher\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Real Time with Bill Maher<\/a>.\u201d The segment, in which he criticizes some Fox News reporting and spoofs several chyrons, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=518619205813608\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">can be found<\/a> on Maher\u2019s verified Facebook page. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/08\/24\/fact-check-no-democrats-condemned-riots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Has No Democrats Condemned Recent Riots?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWould you like to see some of the ones they have for next week? Because it\u2019s just getting worse, I mean, look at this one,\u201d Maher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=518619205813608\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a>, before presenting satirical chyrons such as \u201cTrump Border Wall To Be Melted Down For Giant Statue Of Colin Kaepernick\u201d and \u201cDr. Fauci: Babies In The Womb Must Wear Masks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden has condemned looting as a presidential candidate and as president. In early June 2020, amid <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/article\/george-floyd-protests-timeline.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">protests<\/a> sparked by George Floyd\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-52861726\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">death<\/a> in Minneapolis police custody, Biden said during a speech, \u201cThere\u2019s no place for violence, no place for looting or destroying property or burning churches or destroying businesses,\u201d according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wfiZy4xvhu4&amp;t=96s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">video<\/a> posted on YouTube by ABC News.<\/p>\n<p>After the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/article\/daunte-wright-death-minnesota.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fatal police shooting<\/a> of Daunte Wright, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/04\/12\/remarks-by-president-biden-before-meeting-with-bipartisan-group-of-members-of-congress-to-discuss-the-american-jobs-plan\/https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/04\/12\/remarks-by-president-biden-before-meeting-with-bipartisan-group-of-members-of-congress-to-discuss-the-american-jobs-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> April 12 in remarks: \u201cIn the meantime, I want to make it clear again: There is absolutely no justification \u2013 none \u2013 for looting, no justification for violence.
