They are now detransitioning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not my intention to hurt anyone, but there are certain truths that we must face when ready. We condemn school policies [that] would damage children, defile the holy image of God,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love all of my students but I will never lie to them regardless of the consequences. I\u2019m a teacher but I serve God first and I will not affirm that a biological boy can be a girl and vice versa because it\u2019s against my religion, it\u2019s lying to a child, it\u2019s abuse to a child, and it\u2019s sinning against our God,\u201d Cross concluded.<\/p>\n<p>WATCH:<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Loudoun County teacher put on administrative leave after speaking to the school board.\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1NLAQ3H_a28?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>According to an email obtained by Fox News via the group Parents Against Critical Theory, Cross was placed on leave from Leesburg Elementary School two days after his statement. \u201cI\u2019m contacting you to let you know that one of our physical education teachers, Tanner Cross, is on leave beginning this morning,\u201d wrote Principal Shawn Lacey. \u201cIn his absence, his duties will be covered by substitute staff already working in our building.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted you to know this because it may affect your student\u2019s school routine. Because this involves a personnel matter, I can offer no further information,\u201d Lacey added.<\/p>\n<p>Wayde Byard, a spokesman for the school, told Fox News that \u201cthe decision to place an employee on leave is not the principal\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe contents of personnel files are confidential under state and federal law. I cannot comment other to say that Mr. Cross is on administrative leave with pay,\u201d Byard added.<\/p>\n<p>According to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/loudounnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Draft-POLICY_-8040-Rights-of-Transgender-Students-5-6-21.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">policy 8040<\/a>&nbsp;of LCPS, one of the policies Cross referenced, \u201cLCPS staff shall allow gender-expansive or transgender students to use their chosen name and gender pronouns that reflect their gender identity without any substantiating evidence, regardless of the name and gender recorded in the student\u2019s permanent educational record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSchool staff shall, at the request of a student or parent\/legal guardian, when using a name or pronoun to address the student, use the name and pronoun that correspond to their gender identity. The use of gender-neutral pronouns are appropriate.
