Westbrook, who has had multiple run-ins with fans in the past, attempted to go after the fan but was held back.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.7046979865772\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">fan pours popcorn on Westbrook as he\u2019s being assisted off floor with an injury <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tGcn4kqRqq\">pic.twitter.com\/tGcn4kqRqq<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rob Perez (@WorldWideWob) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WorldWideWob\/status\/1397721494466215937?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 27, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cTo be completely honest, this s*** is getting out of hand, especially for me,\u201d Westbrook said according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/31521353\/fan-dumped-popcorn-russell-westbrook-gets-indefinite-ban-wells-fargo-center-loses-philadelphia-76ers-season-tickets\">ESPN<\/a>. \u201cThe amount of disrespect, the amount of fans just doing whatever the f*** they want to do \u2014 it\u2019s just out of pocket. There are certain things that cross the line. Any other setting \u2026a guy were to come up on the street and pour popcorn on my head, you know what happens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn these arenas, you got to start protecting the players. We\u2019ll see what the NBA does.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span>The fan was ejected from the game during the Sixers 120-95 game two victory over the Wizards, and the Sixers organization put out a statement Thursday condemning the actions of the fan and banning him from the arena indefinitely.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"13\">\n<p><span>After an investigation into the incident that occurred at last night\u2019s game, we have determined that the person involved will have his season ticket membership revoked, effective immediately. In addition, he will be banned from all events at Wells Fargo Center indefinitely.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>We apologize to Russell Westbrook and the Washington Wizards for being subjected to this type of unacceptable and disrespectful behavior. There is no place for it in our sport or our arena.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"3.7183098591549\">\n<p lang=\"und\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/e2FD98xuM0\">pic.twitter.com\/e2FD98xuM0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Philadelphia 76ers (@sixers) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sixers\/status\/1397932348893708290?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 27, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>It wasn\u2019t the only disrespectful incident during the NBA\u2019s slate of games Wednesday evening.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In a more disgusting act, a fan during the Atlanta Hawks vs New York Knicks game appeared to spit on Atlanta\u2019s star point guard Trae Young.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.1240310077519\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Did a Knicks fan spit on Trae Young? \ud83d\ude2c <\/p>\n<p>(<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jamosramos4?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@jamosramos4<\/a> ) <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/iOm44o0rgG\">pic.twitter.com\/iOm44o0rgG<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NBA Central (@TheNBACentral) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheNBACentral\/status\/1397774542936883203?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 27, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The Knicks organization confirmed that a fan did indeed spit on Young, and has been banned from Madison Square Garden indefinitely.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"12\">\n<p><span>We investigated the matter and determined that this patron, who is not a season ticket holder, did indeed spit on Trae Young, and for that reason, he is now banned from The Garden indefinitely. We apologize to Trae and the entire Hawks organization for this fan\u2019s behavior. This was completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our venue. We have turned the information over to the appropriate authorities.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The interactions between Young and Knicks fans caused some controversy after game one of the series, when the home crowd in Madison Square Garden directed derogatory chants toward the star point guard throughout the game. To his credit, Young seemed unbothered by the chants in his postgame interview, but the spitting incident clearly crossed the line.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The NBA put out a statement on Thursday stating their intention to enhance the code of conduct for fans.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe return of more NBA fans to our arenas has brought great excitement and energy to the start of the playoffs, but it is critical that we show respect for players, officials and our fellow fans.
