You know the fundamental story\u2026was about a government who could see everything that everyone did and hear everything that everyone said all the time,\u201d Smith continued. \u201cWell, that didn\u2019t come to pass in 1984, but if we\u2019re not careful that could come to pass in 2024.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This program focused on the rise of artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on China\u2019s use of the technology to control its citizens. One recent example is the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/report-china-testing-emotion-detection-software-on-uyghur-muslims-like-rats-in-laboratories\"><span>bombshell report<\/span><\/a><span> that \u201cthe Chinese Communist government has been testing an artificial intelligence (AI) emotion-detection camera system on Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A software engineer who <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/technology-57101248\"><span>claimed<\/span><\/a><span> to have installed this facial and emotion detection system in police stations in the province home to 12 million ethnic minority Uyghurs said, \u201cThe Chinese government use Uyghurs as test subjects for various experiments just like rats are used in laboratories.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe placed the emotion detection camera 3m from the subject. It is similar to a lie detector but far more advanced technology,\u201d the anonymous engineer explained, describing the use of the systems in police stations in Xinjiang.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The engineer also noted that the system \u201cis trained to detect and analyze even minute changes in facial expressions and skin pores,\u201d with the underlying software creating \u201ca pie chart, with the red segment representing a negative or anxious state of mind.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Another layer to this concern is China\u2019s explicit <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/technology-49971897\"><span>objective<\/span><\/a><span> to lead the \u201cworld in AI technology and applications by 2030,\u201d with one notable statistic provided by the BBC via Comparitech is that 54% of the world\u2019s 770 million CCTV cameras are located in China.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google, also told the BBC that \u201c<\/span><span>We\u2019re in a geo-political strategic conflict with China.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Schmidt, who is now chair of the U.S. National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence (NSCAI), added \u201cThe way to win is to marshal our resources together to have national and global strategies for the democracies to win in AI.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIf we don\u2019t, we\u2019ll be looking at a future where other values will be imposed on us,\u201d Schmidt continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The NSCAI is an independent commission established in 2018, whose role is to \u201c<\/span><span>advance the development of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and associated technologies to comprehensively address the national security and defense needs of the United States.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to its final report in March 2021, the U.S. is not sufficiently prepared to defend against or compete with China in the realm of artificial intelligence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
