I got COVID. So many others died, and yet I\u2019m lucky. I\u2019m still here,\u201d she said. \u201cBut so are my long-haul symptoms, and even the best doctors and scientists don\u2019t know what to expect moving forward. But what they do know is that we now have a vaccine against this devastating virus. It is safe and effective. It can keep you from getting critically ill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish this vaccine had been around before so many of us had gotten sick,\u201d she concluded in the PSA. \u201cBut it is here now, for you. This shot means that you can be there again with family, friends, and neighbors. Be there. She has also suffered hair loss as a result of her symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was acutely sick w\/ Covid19 in April. I still have many symptoms,\u201d she said at the time. \u201cI am what they call a \u2018long hauler.\u2019 Last night, I had real heaviness in my chest. I went to the ER just to make sure it wasn\u2019t a blood clot. Thankfully, it wasn\u2019t. This virus sucks. I had never been this kind of sick. Everything hurt. Loss of smell. It felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest,\u201d she said. \u201cI couldn\u2019t breathe. I couldn\u2019t keep food in me. I lost 9 pounds in 2 weeks. I was confused. Low-grade fever. And the headaches were horrible. I basically had every Covid symptom. At the very end of March, I took two covid19 tests and both were negative. I also took a covid antibody test (the finger prick test) after I was feeling a bit better. NEGATIVE.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter living the last 4 months with lingering symptoms like, vertigo, stomach abnormalities, irregular periods, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, zero short term memory, and general malaise, I went and got an antibody test from a blood draw (not the finger prick) from a lab,\u201d she continued. \u201cI am POSITIVE for covid antibodies. I had Covid19. I just want you to be aware that our testing system is flawed and we don\u2019t know the real numbers. I also want you to know, this illness is not a hoax. I thought I was dying. It felt like I was dying. I will be donating my plasma with hopes that I might save a life. Please take care of yourselves. Please wash your hands and wear a mask and social distance.
