Their dissent from the legacy media\u2019s party line triggered the show\u2019s host and guests to insist that Red State voters had been victims of disinformation.<\/p>\n<p>New York Times deputy opinion editor Patrick Healy said that Republican voters were \u201ctrading in false claims about the election being stolen or Black Lives Matter being a Marxist hate group \u2014 neither of which is true.\u201d (In fact, Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors, who calls herself as a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trained-marxist-blm-co-founder-patrisse-cullors-inks-warner-bros-tv-deal\">trained Marxist<\/a>,\u201d released a video last December in which she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trained-marxist-blm-co-founder-releases-youtube-video-to-set-the-record-straight\">admitted<\/a>, \u201cI do believe in Marxism.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>Healy said that \u201ca lot of these Trump voters live in a Fox News\/Newsmax\/OAN [One America News] bubble,\u201d watching networks that played a handful of violent incidents that broke out at the \u201cmostly peaceful protests\u201d to mislead their viewers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reality is Fox News, others were playing this over and over and over again. They weren\u2019t showing the largely peaceful protests. They were showing the scattered acts of violence,\u201d Healy said. \u201cWhat a lot of these voters were digesting is what they were seeing on television, replayed night after night after night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joe Scarborough agreed that \u201cif you\u2019re watching a channel that does nothing but show these violent outbreaks on a loop, instead of showing how 90% of the protests go, you are obviously going to think that there was nothing but violence last summer during the protests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Healy singled out a participant in Luntz\u2019s forum named Evelyn, who said protesters had been violent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom her point of view, last summer was a very, very violent time in America,\u201d Healy said. \u201cThat was one of the moments in the focus groups when she [Evelyn] was living in a completely different reality than I was living in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In reality, violence broke out in the vast majority of cities that hosted BLM protests, and the \u201cmostly peaceful demonstrations\u201d caused billions of dollars in damage and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2020\/oct\/31\/americans-killed-protests-political-unrest-acled\">killed<\/a> at least 25 people; and crime spiked during 2020, especially over last summer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c2020 Ends as One of America\u2019s Most Violent Years in Decades,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5922082\/2020-gun-violence-homicides-record-year\/\">reported<\/a> Time magazine last December.<\/p>\n<p>The nation became more violent due in part to the less-than-peaceful aspect of BLM \u201cprotests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nearly three out of every four (72%) major law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and Canada reported that rioters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wdrb.com\/news\/national\/police-chief-association-releases-number-of-officers-injured-nationwide-during-violent-protests\/article_db673920-34ab-11eb-9431-a3e24704f86a.html\">injured police officers<\/a> during their cities\u2019 BLM protests. Police chiefs declared that 574 of the \u201cprotests\u201d turned into outright riots, according to the Major Cities Chiefs Association \u2014 but this is an undercount, as political leaders <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/portland-mayor-defends-decision-let-antifa-run-emily-zanotti\">often <\/a>ordered police to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wral.com\/officials-explain-lack-of-police-intervention-during-height-of-friday-s-protest-monuments-removal\/19153912\/\">stand down<\/a>, even when it meant letting arsonists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-rioters-storm-police-station-in-minneapolis-set-fires-at-facility\">burn<\/a> the police station. Rioters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-york-city-rioters-vandalized-303-nypd-police-cars-cost-city-at-least-1-million-in-damages\">damaged<\/a> 303 police cruisers in New York City last summer.<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrators in Kenosha, Wisconsin, caused <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/report-kenosha-city-owned-property-sustained-2m-in-damages-mayor-asks-for-30m-riot-relief\">more than $2 million<\/a> to city property alone, as CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/watch-cnn-claims-kenosha-protests-are-fiery-but-mostly-peaceful-as-city-burns-behind-reporter\">called<\/a> their actions \u201cfiery but mostly peaceful protests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The cost to insurance companies from the rioting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/riots-looting-that-followed-george-floyds-death-could-cost-2-billion-most-expensive-incident-in-insurance-history\">reached<\/a> an estimated $1 billion to $2 billion last September, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/economy\/damage-riots-1b-most-expensive\">according<\/a> to Property Claim Services, making them the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2020\/sep\/16\/insurance-costs-of-2020-riots-most-costly-in-histo\/\">most expensive<\/a> in U.S. history. But more riots have taken place since September \u2014 and insurance only pays for a portion of the overall damage.<\/p>\n<p>The longest sustained violence has taken place in Portland, Oregon, where 62% of \u201cprotests\u201d reportedly erupted into open violence.<\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/virus-outbreak-ap-top-news-race-and-ethnicity-id-state-wire-or-state-wire-b57315d97dd2146c4a89b4636faa7b70\">reported<\/a> last September that Portland faces \u201can uncertain future as it reaches a stunning benchmark: 100 consecutive nights of racial injustice protests marred by vandalism, chaos \u2014 and the killing of a supporter of President Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Oregonian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/portland\/2020\/09\/100-days-of-protests-in-portland.html\">noted<\/a> in February that \u201cmany of those demonstrators who gathered for early evening speeches\u201d at Black Lives Matter protests \u201cwould eventually end up at the Justice Center, joining a smaller contingent of protesters already there. By 11 p.m. almost every night, pockets of violence broke out as individuals tossed rocks, bottles and other debris at police officers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the New York Times followed up coverage with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/04\/27\/us\/portland-protests-mayor-ted-wheeler.html\">headline<\/a>, \u201cAfter Nearly a Year of Unrest, Portland Leaders Pursue a Crackdown.\u201d (The city\u2019s riots have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.koin.com\/news\/protests\/autonomous-demonstrations-portland-protests-ice\/\">continued<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the nation became a more violent place, as jails released <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7.com\/california-department-of-corrections-and-rehabilitation-positive-programming-credit-cdcr-coronavirus-prisons-outbreak\/6357741\/\">more than<\/a> 100,000 prisoners and illegal immigrants in detention nationwide \u2014 including murderers \u2014 some of whom <a href=\"https:\/\/stream.org\/the-great-coronavirus-jailbreak\/\">immediately reoffended<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Murder rates saw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/homicides-rates-spike-by-double-digits-in-36-of-50-biggest-u-s-cities\">double-digit increases<\/a> in 36 of the nation\u2019s 50 largest cities last year. In a story that didn\u2019t mention the word \u201cprotests\u201d or \u201criots,\u201d NPR <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/01\/06\/953254623\/massive-1-year-rise-in-homicide-rates-collided-with-the-pandemic-in-2020\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p><em>At the end of 2020, Chicago police reported more than 750 murders, a jump of more than 50% compared with 2019. By mid-December, Los Angeles saw a 30% increase over the previous year with 322 homicides. There were 437 homicides in New York City by Dec. 20, nearly 40% more than the previous year.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Madison, Wisconsin, saw its murder rate increase <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Crimealytics\/status\/1343950694672379905?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1343950694672379905%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.npr.org%2F2021%2F01%2F06%2F953254623%2Fmassive-1-year-rise-in-homicide-rates-collided-with-the-pandemic-in-2020\">400%<\/a> in 2020, as murders doubled in four other cities.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"11.266272189349\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Final national murder update of 2020:<\/p>\n<p>Murder up 36.7% in 57 agencies with data through at least September (though most have data through November). Murder up in 51 of 57, 37 of 58 agencies reporting murder up more than 30%.<\/p>\n<p>Spreadsheet here: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vEhKHuFNrY\">https:\/\/t.co\/vEhKHuFNrY<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5HgVmwGmDS\">pic.twitter.com\/5HgVmwGmDS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jeff Asher (@Crimealytics) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Crimealytics\/status\/1343950694672379905?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 29, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Crime rates also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/these-5-cities-defunded-the-police-now-violent-crime-rates-are-soaring\">skyrocketed<\/a> in cities that gave in to protesters\u2019 demands to \u201cdefund the police,\u201d such as Minneapolis, where gun crimes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/crime-rate-soars-in-minneapolis-after-city-council-embraced-defund-the-police-movement\">doubled<\/a> and carjackings more than tripled over 2019 levels.<\/p>\n<p>No one who denies these facts \u2014 too few of which were reported by his own newspaper \u2014 has any business lecturing other people about living in an alternate reality.<\/p>\n<p>Trump supporters \u201cshould be heard,\u201d said Frank Luntz, who acknowledged \u201cmy politics have changed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to know what they have to say.
