Warren Davidson (R-OH) on Tuesday proposed the \u201cFIRED Act,\u201d which stands for \u201cFauci Incompetence Requires Early Dismissal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Fauci represents everything that President Eisenhower warned us about in his farewell address: the scientific-technical elite steering the country toward their own ends. Americans have had decades of Dr. Fauci\u2019s leadership, and he publicly failed to respond appropriately to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is time for him to step aside so that new leadership can \u2018follow the science\u2019 and start reopening America,\u201d Davidson said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/davidson.house.gov\/2021\/5\/davidson-introduces-fired-act\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Davidson bill sets a 12-year term limit for appointees serving in the capacity of the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which Fauci has held since 1984.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the wake of massive missteps by Dr. Fauci and his subordinates in the handling of the coronavirus pandemic, this bill addresses an oft-overlooked issue: the lack of accountability for unelected bureaucrats,\u201d Davidson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder Dr. Fauci\u2019s guidance, Americans have lost confidence in the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control, leading to confusion and serious government overreach that has threatened Americans\u2019 livelihoods and freedoms. Despite successful treatment therapies, a historic vaccination development, and decreasing cases, Dr. Fauci has continued to advise healthy, low-risk Americans to continue to act as if the pandemic were out of control\u2014after overseeing nearly a year of draconian public health policies that have decimated the U.S. economy.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) also called for Fauci to be \u201cfired immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has been wrong, intentionally deceptive, and inconsistent throughout this entire pandemic,\u201d Reschenthaler said. \u201cA few examples of Fauci\u2019s failures include: claiming there was very little risk to Americans in January of 2020, opposing President Trump\u2019s China travel ban then crediting it with saving lives, and wrongly predicting an explosion of cases in Texas after Gov. [Greg] Abbott lifted the state mask mandates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is long past time for Dr. Fauci to stop talking to the American public. Fauci should resign or be fired immediately,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases who served on former President Donald Trump\u2019s White House Coronavirus Task Force and is now President Joe Biden\u2019s chief medical adviser on COVID-19, appeared before a congressional budget committee on Tuesday. He defended allocating $600,000 to a group called EcoHealth Alliance, which then paid the Wuhan Institute of Virology to study the risk that bat coronaviruses could mutate and infect humans.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee last week claimed that \u201csignificant circumstantial evidence\u201d exists showing COVID-19 first emerged from a leak at China\u2019s lab.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInternational efforts to discover the true source of the virus, however, have been stymied by a lack of cooperation from the People\u2019s Republic of China,\u201d they wrote in the report. \u201cNevertheless, significant circumstantial evidence raises serious concerns that the COVID-19 outbreak may have been a leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
