They are worried; I\u2019m sure that their viewership which is very Left was going to pay a price. And the intolerance of the Left is the issue in the cancel culture that is flowing from it. And I hear from a lot of liberals in fact many CNN contributors who talked to me afterward who were very, very concerned about the cancel culture that is now hitting them at CNN,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-fires-rick-santorum-after-he-claimed-founding-fathers-birthed-a-nation-from-nothing\"><span class=\"s1\">reported<\/span><\/a>, the former GOP presidential candidate made the network\u2019s audience angry over comments he made to Young America\u2019s Foundation on April 23.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">When the Pilgrims arrived in 1620, \u201cThere was nothing here,\u201d he said. \u201cYes, we have Native Americans, but candidly there isn\u2019t much Native American culture in American culture.\u201d The Founding Fathers \u201ccame here, mostly from Europe, and they set up a country that was based on Judeo-Christian principles,\u201d Santorum said.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">HuffPost&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/rick-santorum-cnn-native-americans_n_60a92fa6e4b0313547978140\"><span class=\"s1\">announced<\/span><\/a> Santorum\u2019s termination on Saturday afternoon. A CNN senior executive anonymously told the outlet that CNN decided to fire Santorum after he appeared on CNN\u2019s \u201cCuomo Prime Time.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"10.08\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;I wanted to give you a chance to explain yourself, because that&#8217;s what this show is about.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tonight <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChrisCuomo?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ChrisCuomo<\/a> asked Rick Santorum about Santorum&#8217;s widely-condemned comments on Native American culture \u2013 here&#8217;s the entire clip <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yXZeIsGnpd\">pic.twitter.com\/yXZeIsGnpd<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brian Stelter (@brianstelter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brianstelter\/status\/1389395080688152576?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 4, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cLeadership wasn\u2019t particularly satisfied with that appearance. None of the anchors wanted to book him,\u201d said the executive. \u201cSo he was essentially benched anyway.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">During the Cuomo program, Santorum was <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brianstelter\/status\/1389395080688152576?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1389395080688152576%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-fires-rick-santorum-after-he-claimed-founding-fathers-birthed-a-nation-from-nothing\"><span class=\"s1\">asked<\/span><\/a> about his commentary in the speech. \u201cI misspoke in this respect,\u201d he clarified. \u201cI was talking about the founding, and the principles embodied in the founding,\u201d such as \u201cthe Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">He added, \u201cPeople have said, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m trying to dismiss what we did to the Native Americans.\u2019 Far from it! The way we treated Native Americans was horrific. It goes against every bone and everything I\u2019ve ever fought for, as a leader, in the Congress.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Santorum stated that he is against treating people as \u201cother\u201d or \u201cless than human,\u201d adding that he believes people are guilty of doing so with regard to unborn children today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Host Chris Cuomo criticized Santorum and the Republican Party, saying that he has \u201cdone this with homosexuality, comparing it to bestiality\u2026this is a continuation of an \u2018us\u2019 and a \u2018them.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Santorum responded, saying that \u201cthe beautiful thing about the imperfect people that put together our founding documents, they put together a pretty perfect saying which is \u2018all men are created equal and endowed by and created with rights.\u2019\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">He added, \u201cThere are people who look at people as \u2018other\u2019 [and] look at people as \u2018less than\u2019 and that is despicable, disgusting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">He went on to say, \u201cI don\u2019t think we want to conflate disagreements about public policy issues\u2026and how we treat people as individuals. I think we can treat people with respect and dignity and disagree with them on very important issues like abortion, or like marriage \u2026 Just because I disagree with someone on the issue of marriage doesn\u2019t mean I hate them or see them as less than, and I think that\u2019s what I get accused of and that\u2019s wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI think after that appearance, it was pretty clear we couldn\u2019t use him again,\u201d the executive told Huffpost.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Santorum&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RickSantorum\/status\/1396295675608981508?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet\"><span class=\"s1\">tweeted<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;late Saturday night, \u201cWhen I signed on with CNN, I understood I would be providing commentary that is not regularly heard by the typical CNN viewer.
