The claim stems from a website that says it publishes \u201chumor, parody and satire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/09\/26\/politics\/amy-coney-barrett-supreme-court-nominee\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">nominated<\/a> Barrett for the Supreme Court in September 2020, and she was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/10\/27\/politics\/justice-amy-coney-barrett-sworn-in-supreme-court\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sworn in<\/a> on Oct. 27 last year after her Senate confirmation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/10\/27\/politics\/justice-amy-coney-barrett-sworn-in-supreme-court\/index.html\">CNN<\/a> reported. Now, a post on Facebook alleges personnel from the Navy JAG Corps and Army Criminal Investigation Division went to Barrett\u2019s house in Washington, D.C. on May 15, 2021, and placed her on house arrest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActing on a sealed indictment, the U.S. military has placed Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett on house arrest and fitted the mother of 7 with an ankle bracelet to ensure she does not abscond while JAG decides whether to show compassion or schedule a military tribunal,\u201d the post states.<\/p>\n<p>The post further claims Barrett was informed by investigators that they had the authority to \u201cdetain or arrest citizens who stand accused of treason or present a threat to national security\u201d under the 1807 Insurrection Act, which had supposedly been invoked by Trump while he was still president. The Insurrection Act allows for a president to deploy military forces into a U.S. state without approval from state authorities to protect constitutional rights in particular situations, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/01\/11\/politics\/insurrection-act-explainer\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There is, however, no evidence Barrett was placed under house arrest by the military. Check Your Fact searched the Department of Defense\u2019s (DoD) <a href=\"https:\/\/search.usa.gov\/search?query=Amy%20Coney%20Barrett&amp;affiliate=defensegov&amp;utf8=%26%23x2713%3B\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>, but found no mention of the Supreme Court justice being arrested. Nor has the DoD posted about any such incident on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/page\/114648515718\/search?q=Amy%20Coney%20Barrett&amp;filters=eyJycF9jaHJvbm9fc29ydDowIjoie1wibmFtZVwiOlwiY2hyb25vc29ydFwiLFwiYXJnc1wiOlwiXCJ9In0%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22Amy%20Coney%20Barrett%22%20(from%3ADeptofDefense)&amp;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a> pages. Had Barrett been arrested, media outlets certainly would have reported on it, yet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=Amy+Coney+Barrett+arrested&amp;ei=ST2sYI73CYyt5NoP-7KUsAs&amp;oq=Amy+Coney+Barrett+arrested&amp;gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EANQxxJY7BVgoxhoAXAAeACAAUOIAaYBkgEBM5gBAKABAaoBB2d3cy13aXrAAQE&amp;sclient=gws-wiz&amp;ved=0ahUKEwjOv5bRwuPwAhWMFlkFHXsZBbYQ4dUDCA4&amp;uact=5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">none<\/a> have, except to debunk the claim.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if Barrett was placed on house arrest by the military, a DoD press operations duty officer told Check Your Fact in an email: \u201cThat is not true.\u201d The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/search.aspx?Search=Amy+Coney+Barrett+arrest&amp;type=Site\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Supreme Court<\/a> has also not released any statement confirming the supposed action, either.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Check Your Fact <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/01\/12\/fact-check-donald-trump-invoke-insurrection-act\/\">previously reported<\/a> Trump did not invoke the Insurrection Act before leaving office.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/09\/17\/fact-check-david-petraeus-author-essay-military\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did Gen. David Petraeus Author This Essay About The Military?)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The text in the Facebook post appears to have been lifted nearly word-for-word from a May 19 <a href=\"https:\/\/realrawnews.com\/2021\/05\/military-puts-scj-amy-coney-barrett-on-house-arrest\/\">article<\/a> published by Real Raw News that bears the headline: \u201cMilitary Puts SCJ Amy Coney Barrett on House Arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Real Raw News includes a <a href=\"https:\/\/realrawnews.com\/about-us\/\">disclaimer<\/a> stating the website \u201ccontains humor, parody, and satire,\u201d some social media users have shared the claim that Barrett was placed under house arrest without including such a notice, seemingly believing it to be true.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time a false claim about Barrett that\u2019s circulating on social media has stemmed from a Real Raw News article.
