At least 248 Palestinians and at least 13 Israelis were killed in the fighting, Reuters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/gaza-truce-between-israel-hamas-begins-mediated-by-egypt-2021-05-20\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since the fighting began, social media has become replete with misinformation regarding the clashes. Now, an image shared on Facebook claims to show an Israeli officer kneeling on a Palestinian child\u2019s neck, killing him. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/05\/24\/fact-check-video-turkish-army-palestinian-territory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Does This Video Show The Turkish Army In Palestinian Territory?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn Israeli soldier kills a Palestinian child and the world has not moved for him,\u201d reads text in the image. \u201cShare this picture until it rotates in the world to show the Zionist brutality in Palestine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The photo, however, is not from the recent Israel-Hamas conflict. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found it shared by Chilean radio station <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adnradio.cl\/nacional\/2016\/10\/01\/denuncian-abuso-policial-contra-joven-que-realizo-un-rayado-en-valparaiso-3262135.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Radio ADN<\/a> in an October 2016 article about a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/frentefotografico\/posts\/1859329480970793\">Facebook page<\/a> denouncing the officer in the picture for an act of police abuse.<\/p>\n<p>Chilean news station <a href=\"https:\/\/www.24horas.cl\/nacional\/padres-de-grafitero-violentamente-detenido-en-valparaiso-presentaran-acciones-judiciales-2151388\">24 Horas<\/a> also reported on the incident, which occured in early October 2016, saying the young man on the ground was a 21-year-old from Santiago arrested for graffiti. The young man suffered bruising to his cheek and bleeding from his lip, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>The officer\u2019s uniform shows the word \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spanishdict.com\/translate\/subteniente\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">subteniente<\/a>\u201d which means second lieutenant in Spanish, indicating the incident took place in a Spanish-speaking country, not Israel or Palestinian terrority.
