The commission would hear from a \u201cwide variety of experts on job discrimination,\u201d the commission said.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Democratic commissioner later disinvited Westhill just days before the hearing after viewing his written remarks, Westhill said. A&nbsp;member of Dhillon\u2019s staff told Westhill that she took issue with his \u201caggressive tone\u201d and&nbsp;\u201cname-checking\u201d of specific companies in his criticism of their hiring practices, Westhill claimed.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to rescind his invitation came as a \u201cshock,\u201d said&nbsp;Westhill, who served as the top civil rights official at the Department of Agriculture immediately prior to joining the CEO.<\/p>\n<p>In his prepared written <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceousa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Devon-Westhill-Testimony-EEOC-4.28.pdf\">remarks<\/a>, Westhill said that federal, state and local governments along with&nbsp;nonprofits, businesses and social institutions are \u201cdamaging\u201d the possibility of removing all impediments to&nbsp;equal opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir choice of poison is race and ethnicity-based solutions to disparities we see that have been, we are told, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and made more evident by the racial discord we have been recently facing,\u201d Westhill wrote. \u201cThe ultimate goal with these efforts is to achieve equal outcomes rather than to ensure equal opportunity \u2014 the latter being, of course, the remit of this agency. The result has been discrimination against and hostility toward certain identities that are disfavored. Examples abound that the COVID-19 pandemic is being used as an excuse to discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, and sex.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Westhill also criticized Coca-Cola,&nbsp;United Airlines and the NASDAQ stock exchange for moving to&nbsp;implement race and sex quotas in \u201call manner of employment matters.\u201d Coca-Cola this year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/coca-cola-says-it-will-only-hire-law-firms-that-meet-quota-for-black-attorneys\">implemented<\/a> a diversity quota for the outside counsel it retains, saying it will only hire law firms that commit to providing 15 percent of billed time from black attorneys, higher than the percentage of African Americans in the U.S. population.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy testimony was not aggressive. It was straight talk about the reality of the failure of our governments and other American institutions to treat everyone equally. It should be welcomed, not silenced, by a high government official whose job it is to enforce our civil rights laws,\u201d Westhill <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceousa.org\/2021\/05\/17\/canceled-at-the-eeoc-again\/\">said<\/a> in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommissioner Dhillon should be ashamed and those who supported her nomination should be furious,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The move to disinvite Westhill&nbsp;comes on the heels of other actions the EEOC has taken under the Biden administration to curb the influence of former members of the&nbsp;Trump administration at the agency.<\/p>\n<p>Sharon Gustafson, appointed by Trump as EEOC general counsel,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/behind-bidens-firing-of-a-trump-appointed-lawyer-from-a-top-civil-rights-post\">made waves<\/a>&nbsp;in March when she penned a letter refusing the Biden administration\u2019s request that she resign. She was immediately fired, prompting questions about the legality of her termination as well as a spirited condemnation of the president\u2019s decision from one of Gustafson\u2019s EEOC colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>Less than two weeks after Gustafson\u2019s abrupt firing, the EEOC sent out an agency-wide email that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/federal-civil-rights-agency-sends-email-to-employees-with-quote-from-anti-semitic-author-alice-walker\">included<\/a>&nbsp;a quote from notoriously anti-Semitic author Alice Walker.<\/p>\n<p>The EEOC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p><i>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
