Period. No shift\u2014not at all,\u201d Biden told reporters at a White House press conference with South Korea\u2019s president. \u201cBut I\u2019ll tell you what there is a shift in. The shift is \u2026 we still need a two-state solution. It is the only answer. The only answer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden also addressed the idea of a rift among Democrats who want his administration to rebuke Israel and end a planned arms deal between the United States and Israel, saying, \u201cI think that my party still supports Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s get something straight here,\u201d he added, \u201cUntil the region says unequivocally they acknowledge the right of Israel to exist as an independent Jewish state, there will be no peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Friday,\u00a0about 140 progressive groups called on the Biden administration to condemn Israel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are horrified by Israel\u2019s use of disproportionate and deadly force against Palestinians in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-gaza\">Gaza<\/a> which have already resulted in the killings of dozens of Palestinians, including children,\u201d\u00a0the statement reads (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/508087198\/Read-final-statement#from_embed\">pdf<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Reps. (Anna Moneymaker\/Getty Images)<\/figure>\n<p>A ceasefire began early on Friday, ending 11 days of conflict that broke out this month after Hamas launched rockets at Israel over a court case to evict several Palestinian families in East Jerusalem. Nearly 250 people have been killed, mostly Palestinians, according to Israeli and Gaza authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Biden said he spoke to Palestinian\u00a0President Mahmoud Abbas and renewed the United States\u2019 commitment to security and economic support for the West Bank.<\/p>\n<p>The United States\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/biden-vows-to-replenish-israels-iron-dome-missile-defense-system-support-gaza-rebuilding-efforts_3821571.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">will\u00a0replenish Israel\u2019s Iron Dome missile defense system<\/a>, which helped destroy Hamas rockets fired into the Jewish nation, and provide humanitarian relief\u00a0for the people of Gaza and Gaza reconstruction efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Biden said he told Abbas he would attempt to put a major package together with other nations that share his view in an effort to rebuild Gaza, without providing Hamas with the opportunity to rebuild their weapons systems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also indicated to the Israelis that I thought it was very important that they stop in Jerusalem this inner-communal fighting by extremes on both sides,\u201d Biden said. \u201cIt has to end. (Amir Cohen\/Reuters)<\/figure>\n<h2>Republican Senator Blames Fighting on Biden<\/h2>\n<p>Meanwhile, top GOP senator\u00a0Ted Cruz\u00a0(R-Texas) on Wednesday laid the blame for the fighting in the Middle East at the feet of the president, pointing to his administration\u2019s dismissal of the peace accords struck between\u00a0Israel\u00a0and several countries under the former president and Biden\u2019s intention to re-enter the Iran nuclear deal.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz recalled being present when\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/israel-uae-bahrain-set-to-sign-milestone-abraham-accords-in-white-house_3500454.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Abraham Accords<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/live-president-trump-and-the-first-lady-participate-in-an-abraham-accords-signing-ceremony_3500709.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">were signed at the White House<\/a>. Both said virtually the identical thing; both said \u2018it is now clear to us that America stands unequivocally with Israel. We want to be friends with America.
