We\u2019ve removed our original post, which used a phrase with connotations that distracted from our intended message of solidarity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And, in another tweet, the union wrote: \u201cSolidarity is important\u2014and so is accountability. We apologize.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The phrase used in the original tweet \u2014&nbsp;&#8220;from the river to the sea&#8221;&nbsp;\u2014 has long been used by groups calling for the elimination of Israel&nbsp;and the creation of a&nbsp;Palestinian state that runs from the Jordan river to the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter users blasted the union for the tweet.<\/p>\n<p>John Gage, former writer for the Washington Examiner, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/johnrobertgage\/status\/1395131009306398737\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>: &#8220;This is a slogan supporting genocide against Jews. Whoever wrote and approved this tweet should be fired immediately.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Others upset by the tweet wrote&nbsp;&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lbgurevich\/status\/1395155711131328515\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">You<\/a>&nbsp;called for a Jewish genocide,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ShneorNY\/status\/1395360252380520453\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Apology<\/a>&nbsp;not accepted. I\u2019m canceling my subscription,\u201d and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LargeDoyle\/status\/1395388346311000068\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;You&#8217;re<\/a>&nbsp;done.
