You have to have a vaccine passport. Otherwise, this will never work,\u201d Cuomo <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cuomoprimetime\/status\/1395194595202539520\">said<\/a>, because \u201cthere is no way to differentiate the vaccinated from the unvaccinated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy do [administration officials] avoid the passport?\u201d Cuomo asked incredulously.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci replied that, \u201cif you in fact, require a passport\u201d on a national level, \u201cyou\u2019re going to be discriminating against people, and putting people at a disadvantage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Denying unvaccinated people access to the public would amount to\u201d essentially forcing them, in many respects\u201d to get vaccinated, Fauci said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy shouldn\u2019t I get opportunities, as vaccinated, that you don\u2019t get as unvaccinated?\u201d Cuomo asked<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you want to preference people who are vaccinated, you [have] got to give us a way to distinguish between those who are and those who aren\u2019t,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy put it on everybody else?\u201d asked Cuomo. \u201cWhy not do it centrally\u201d at the federal level? \u201cYou guys have the best way to do it. You don\u2019t need distancing in that environment, <strong>if there is proof of vaccination<\/strong> for everyone.\u201d (Emphasis added.)<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"13.380681818182\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">One week ago, I called on the CDC to offer a roadmap forward. Specifically, I wanted them to say that vaccinated people can be around others who are also vaccinated, and to set metrics tied to vaccination for when mask mandates can be lifted. Not confusing on the individual level. The problem is how it applies to policies. If only the CDC added: Without vaccine verification, workplaces, stores, etc still need to keep mask mandates until X% of the community are vaccinated. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hllZm6aTyQ\">https:\/\/t.co\/hllZm6aTyQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Leana Wen, M.D. (@DrLeanaWen) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrLeanaWen\/status\/1394497119743004675?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 18, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But Cuomo\u2019s remarks are the network\u2019s clearest call for politicians to require people to carry government-issued medical papers \u2014 something not currently required for vaccinations against much deadlier diseases.<\/p>\n<p>Any move toward vaccine mandates would face political, as well as constitutional, hurdles.<\/p>\n<p>A Gallup poll <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/349580\/support-vaccination-proof-varies-activity.aspx?utm_source=alert&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=morelink&amp;utm_campaign=syndication\">released<\/a> earlier this month revealed how divided Americans are over the issue. While a slim majority of those surveyed supported private-sector decisions to require proof of vaccination for a very few activities \u2014 but only due to overwhelming support among Democrats and liberals. Between 62% and 85% of Democrats welcomed a vaccine passport, while less than a majority of registered independents and Republicans support documentation of vaccines for any public activity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe use of government-mandated \u2018passports\u2019 does raise legal and constitutional questions involving equal access, privacy and a lack of uniform standards which may not survive likely court challenges,\u201d noted Gallup.<\/p>\n<p>As of the beginning of this month, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/these-7-states-are-working-to-ban-vaccine-passports\">seven states<\/a> had already passed legislation prohibiting government agencies and\/or private businesses from requiring people to provide proof of vaccination before accessing services. All seven states \u2014 which include Arizona, Florida, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/idaho-becomes-fourth-state-to-ban-vaccine-passports\">Idaho<\/a>, Iowa, Montana, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-texas-bans-vaccine-passports\">Texas<\/a>, and Utah \u2014 are led by Republican governors.<\/p>\n<p>Americans consider the idea of needing a federally issued document (which is not required of unvaccinated illegal aliens) a fearful development. \u201cWe are on the verge of East German-style \u2018Show me your papers,\u2019\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2021\/05\/17\/fncs_will_cain_we_are_on_the_verge_of_show_me_your_papers_with_leftist_push_to_mandate_vaccine.html\">said<\/a> Fox News \u201cPrimetime\u201d host Will Cain on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fight to control you, to Lord over you, [has] just begun,\u201d Cain warned. \u201cThe Left is going to begin the push for vaccine mandates and vaccine passports.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Will Cain won the 7 p.m. Eastern time slot on Monday, pulling in <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/19\/will-cain-earns-high-ratings-fox-news-primetime\/\">1.6 million<\/a> viewers.
