Ahead of the final episode, Allen thanked fans for their support and commitment over the years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to wrap up this story,\u201d Allen said in the video he shared on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>Allen\u2019s co-star, Nancy Travis, said that we will remember the great time she had throughout the years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will just take away the memory of having a great time,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"3.6190476190476\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Join me <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/tonight?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#tonight<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rk2DwcWJkZ\">pic.twitter.com\/rk2DwcWJkZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tim Allen (@ofctimallen) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ofctimallen\/status\/1395420736634822657?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 20, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Speaking with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/tim-allen-last-man-standing-farewell-montage-finale\">Fox News<\/a>, Allen said he had to hold back tears when shooting the final episode.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur prop guy said, \u2018Which of these did you want to take?\u2019 and it was pictures of the family from the hallway that was going away,\u201d Allen said. \u201cI walked in and looked at Nancy and [I\u2019m] literally surprised I got through that scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe really looked at me [and said], \u2018Are you OK?\u2019 and I was not OK,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Nancy Travis said that somber departures are part of working on a long-running show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the nature of what we do,\u201d she said. \u201cBut this job, in particular, we just all formed such close bonds and relationships.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just tried to portray a family and the nuances of a family, and the relationships within a family. To be able to bring that into somebody\u2019s living room every single week is pretty incredible,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>The show endured an unexpected hiatus in 2018 following ABC\u2019s abrupt cancellation of the program despite solid ratings and a loyal fanbase. Speculation at the time was that parent-company Disney axed the show because it centers on a Christian conservative patriarch that says politically incorrect things.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding President Donald Trump, Allen, an outspoken conservative, told&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/tv\/2018\/09\/13\/tim-allen-interview\/\">Entertainment Weekly<\/a>&nbsp;in 2018 that he never classified himself as a \u201cTrump supporter\u201d (he endorsed Kasich) while imploring people to calm down and look at the great work Trump had done with the economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve met [Trump] at the charity event years ago, and that certainly doesn\u2019t fit with the man who tweets. I\u2019ve met a lot of people in private whose public persona is a bit off. My perception is \u2018let\u2019s see what he gets done,\u2019\u201d Allen said. \u201cLet\u2019s stop banging on the pilot\u2019s door and trying to pull the guy out of his seat while he\u2019s still flying. You might not like how he\u2019s flying the plane but let\u2019s let him land it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Allen also suggested that maybe some of Trump\u2019s style could just be theater, as he gets the results people have long been waiting for.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo I like him or agree with him? \u2026 I don\u2019t know. Somebody got this NAFTA thing done. How did that happen? It\u2019s like a sleight of hand with this dude,\u201d added Allen. \u201cThere\u2019s this smoke and smelly food but over here he just fixed a pothole. The theater of this is fascinating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe doesn\u2019t do it very attractively but you don\u2019t even realize the economy is doing better,\u201d Allen continued. \u201cIs it? There\u2019s so much drama. Maybe it took this type of guy to get stuff done because it was so stuck in the mud. I\u2019m just watching the theater of it and trying to keep my personal opinions out of it.
