A Ford spokesperson also confirmed there was only one steering wheel.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Biden recently visited Ford\u2019s Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan, where he promoted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/03\/31\/fact-sheet-the-american-jobs-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his infrastructure plan<\/a>, which includes a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/03\/31\/politics\/infrastructure-proposal-biden-explainer\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$174 billion investment<\/a> in the electric vehicle market, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/story\/business\/autos\/2021\/05\/18\/biden-tour-ford-plant-dearborn-electric-vehicle-priorities\/5133176001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Detroit News<\/a> reported. While at the electric vehicle plant, he also took a spin in a Ford F-150 Lightning truck.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, some social media users <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ladonna.trautz\/posts\/10220947528250810\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">have been sharing<\/a> a screen grab of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/2021\/05\/wow-biden-caught-fake-driving-someone-else-steering-vehicle-stunt-video-pics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gateway Pundit article<\/a> that alleges Biden did not actually drive the electric truck. The headline of the screen grabbed article reads, \u201cWOW! Biden Caught Fake Driving \u2013 Someone Else Is Steering Vehicle \u2013 It Was All a Stunt! VIDEO and PICS.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/04\/30\/fact-check-joe-biden-96-executive-orders-100-days\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED:<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/04\/30\/fact-check-joe-biden-96-executive-orders-100-days\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Did Joe Biden Sign 96 Executive Orders In 100 Days?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Biden did not fake driving the Ford electric truck, contrary to what the image claims. A video taken by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nZE4_YXGBiI&amp;t=82s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Associated Press<\/a> shows there was not a steering wheel on the passenger side where the other man, who was identified by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/money\/cars\/ford\/2021\/05\/19\/biden-ford-f-150-lightning-track-dearborn\/5152825001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Free Press<\/a> as a Secret Service agent, was sitting. The object visible on the dashboard near the Secret Service agent appears to be a camera, a review of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?511860-101\/president-biden-test-drives-ford-electric-vehicle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">C-SPAN<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nZE4_YXGBiI&amp;t=82s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Associated Press footage<\/a> found.<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Biden takes the wheel of new F150 electric truck\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nZE4_YXGBiI?start=82&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>Melissa Miller, a spokesperson for Ford, told Check Your Fact in an email there was \u201conly one steering wheel in the vehicle the President drove on Tuesday.\u201d Ford North America Product Communications Manager Mike Levine also told <a href=\"https:\/\/jalopnik.com\/that-rumor-that-biden-didnt-really-drive-the-ford-f-150-1846929442\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jalopnik<\/a> there was \u201cno other set of controls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/money\/cars\/ford\/2021\/05\/19\/biden-ford-f-150-lightning-track-dearborn\/5152825001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Free Press<\/a> reported White House staff told the Ford team the night before Biden\u2019s visit there was a possibility that the president may do a test drive but nothing concrete. Mark Truby, the global head of Ford communications, described it as a \u201cgame time decision,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/money\/cars\/ford\/2021\/05\/19\/biden-ford-f-150-lightning-track-dearborn\/5152825001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the outlet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the media was there. And the whole presidential motorcade. We\u2019ve never had the presidential motorcade at our test track before,\u201d Ford CEO Jim Farley told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/money\/cars\/ford\/2021\/05\/19\/biden-ford-f-150-lightning-track-dearborn\/5152825001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Free Press<\/a>. \u201cI think all our team members were kind of stunned to see the president of the United States come to the test track.
