We have no additional comment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump responded to the news by saying that it was a \u201ccorrupt\u201d investigation \u201cin desperate search of a crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump said:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"29\">\n<p><em>The Attorney General of New York literally campaigned on prosecuting Donald Trump even before she knew anything about me. She said that if elected, she would use her office to look into \u201cevery aspect\u201d of my real estate dealings. She swore that she would \u201cdefinitely sue\u201d me. She boasted on video that she would be, and I quote, \u201ca real pain in the ass.\u201d She declared, \u201cjust wait until I\u2019m in the Attorney General\u2019s office,\u201d and, \u201cI\u2019ve got my eyes on Trump Tower.\u201d She also promised that, if elected, she would \u201cjoin with law enforcement and other Attorney Generals [sic] across this nation in removing this President from office,\u201d and, \u201cIt\u2019s important that everyone understand that the days of Donald Trump are coming to an end.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Attorney General made each of these statements, not after having had an opportunity to actually look at the facts, but BEFORE she was even elected, BEFORE she had seen even a shred of evidence. This is something that happens in failed third world countries, not the United States. If you can run for a prosecutor\u2019s office pledging to take out your enemies, and be elected to that job by partisan voters who wish to enact political retribution, then we are no longer a free constitutional democracy.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump Jr. posted a video on Twitter of James making those remarks and other remarks, including falsely calling Trump an \u201cillegitimate\u201d president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is nothing more corrupt than an investigation in desperate search of a crime,\u201d Trump Jr. wrote in the tweet that featured the video. \u201cIf this isn\u2019t flagrant abuse of political office I don\u2019t know what is! This is banana republic stuff right here and it\u2019s happening in America today. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Hlfh4iNXDF\">pic.twitter.com\/Hlfh4iNXDF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DonaldJTrumpJr\/status\/1395043343248281600?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 19, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cLikewise, the District Attorney\u2019s office has been going after me for years based on a lying, discredited low life, who was not listened to or given credibility by other prosecutorial offices, and sentenced to 3 years in prison for lying and other events unrelated to me,\u201d Trump said, referring to his former personal attorney Michael Cohen. \u201cThese investigations have also been going on for years with members and associates of the Trump Organization being viciously attacked, harassed, and threatened, in order to say anything bad about the 45th President of the United States. This would include having to make up false stories. Numerous documents, all prepared by large and prestigious law and accounting firms, have been examined, and many hours of testimony have been taken from many people, some of whom I have not seen in years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump said that the prosecution was the continuation of a \u201cpartisan witch hunt\u201d by Democrats who are not focusing on crises that are happening around the country, like rising crime rates and the crisis on the Southern Border.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking in conjunction with Washington, these Democrats want to silence and cancel millions of voters because they don\u2019t want \u2018Trump\u2019 to run again,\u201d Trump said. \u201cAs people are being killed on the sidewalks of New York at an unprecedented rate, as drugs and crime of all kinds are flowing through New York City at record levels, with absolutely nothing being done about it, all they care about is taking down Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump concluded:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"24\">\n<p><em>I have built a great company, employed thousands of people, and all I do is get unfairly attacked and abused by a corrupt political system. It would be so wonderful if the effort used against President Donald J. Trump, who lowered taxes and regulations, rebuilt our military, took care of our Veterans, created Space Force, fixed our border, produced our vaccine in record-setting time (years ahead of what was anticipated), and made our Country great and respected again, and so much more, would be focused on the ever more dangerous sidewalks and streets of New York.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>If these prosecutors focused on real issues, crime would be obliterated, and New York would be great and free again!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump Jr. said in a statement to The Daily Wire that James was \u201cdisgracing herself, her office, and the rule of law with her shameless and transparent politically motivated prosecution of the Trump Organization,\u201d accusing her of \u201cweaponizing\u201d her office to \u201cdamage her political enemies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump Jr.\u2019s full statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"14\">\n<p><em>The Attorney General of New York is disgracing herself, her office, and the rule of law with her shameless and transparent politically motivated prosecution of the Trump Organization. When she was running to become New York\u2019s Attorney General, prior to even seeing a shred evidence, she pronounced my father guilty of crimes and promised her partisan political supporters that she would target him. None of this is about \u201cjustice,\u201d to AG James, it\u2019s about weaponizing her public office to damage her political enemies and it\u2019s disgusting.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In a separate tweet containing his father\u2019s statement, Trump Jr. called James\u2019 efforts a \u201cflagrant witch hunt,\u201d saying if James\u2019 investigation is \u201cnot a political persecution I\u2019m not sure what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.8516483516484\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">My father\u2019s statement on the flagrant witch hunt that started before New York\u2019s Attorney General even took office and apparently before she\u2019d actually seen any actual evidence.
