The survey was crafted by a New York City-based diversity, equity, and inclusion firm called Leadership Academy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In response to a FOIA request, the school district confirmed that the cost of the survey was $49,600 and said it was \u201cprocured via an informal competitive process.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>PDE <a href=\"https:\/\/defendinged.org\/press-releases\/oppose-crt-in-fcps\/\">reported<\/a> that the school district also \u201csigned a four-year \u2018Notice of Award\u2019 on March 11 with the organization with a \u2018pricing schedule\u2019 of 21 items that could add up to a minimum of $702,700 of business and even into the millions of dollars.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>FCPS claims that the \u201cNotice of Award\u201d is valued at $80,000, though a single line item on the contract runs approximately $240,000.<\/span><span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The survey asked parents to what degree they agree with the following prompts. Respondents could choose from four options, \u201cStrongly Agree,\u201d \u201cAgree,\u201d \u201cDisagree,\u201d and \u201cStrongly Disagree.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Examples included:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>\u201cMy multiple identities (racial, ethnic, gender, religious, etc.) are valued and within FCPS.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cFCPS staff are equipped to teach about race\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>&nbsp;\u201cFCPS staff are equipped to teach about racism\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cTeaching methods (or teaching practices) address race as often as they should\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cTeaching methods address racism as often as they should\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cThe curriculum used in FCPS should teach students how to challenge power and privilege in society.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cA curriculum and teaching methods focused on being anti-racist and anti-biased would support students\u2019 academic excellence and accelerate learning.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>PDE claims that the questions were designed to elicit a negative response and help funnel more money to diversity consultants such as Leadership Academy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe survey was filled with leading questions that are clearly designed with one intention: to get more business for the consultant, NYC Leadership Academy, which was involved in creating the survey,\u201d PDE said.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In an email regarding the survey, Superintendent Scott Brabrand indicated that the district plans on removing its \u201cControversial Issue Policy,\u201d which is designed to protect students and encourage educators to instruct impartially.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cOne key strategy to achieve education equity is to analyze and address the beliefs and policies that inform teaching practices along with what is taught in schools,\u201d Brabrand said. \u201cFCPS will be revising the existing Controversial Issues Policy and developing a new Anti-Racism, Anti-Bias Education Curriculum Policy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Asra Nomani, the Vice President of strategy and investigations at Parents Defending Education and a Fairfax County parent told The Daily Wire that parents are angered by the proposal and survey.<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span>Scores of parents and community members have contacted us, angry and confused about the fake, rigged survey that school Superintendent Scott Brabrand sent to the community, opening the door for critical race theory indoctrination in one of America\u2019s largest school systems,<span>\u201d&nbsp;<\/span>Nomani said. <span>\u201c<\/span>The questions were set up to get answers that will give school officials the excuse to bring critical race theory to students and staff.<span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
