NHs are prohibited from requiring a hospitalized resident who is determined medically stable to be tested for COVID-19 prior to admission or readmission,\u201d Cuomo\u2019s order stated.<\/p>\n<p>Before the order was rescinded on May 10, thousands of infected patients were sent into nursing homes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore than 4,500 recovering coronavirus patients were sent to New York\u2019s already vulnerable nursing homes under a controversial state directive that was ultimately scrapped amid criticisms it was accelerating the nation\u2019s deadliest outbreaks, according to a count by The Associated Press,\u201d the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/5ebc0ad45b73a899efa81f098330204c\">AP wrote<\/a> in May 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The number was even higher according to a later account by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/blame-game-cuomo-takes-heat-over-ny-nursing-home-study\/2020\/07\/14\/6aa5fb9c-c58c-11ea-a825-8722004e4150_story.html\">AP<\/a>, which reported that \u201cthe state\u2019s own count [shows the order] ushered more than 6,300 recovering virus patients into nursing homes at the height of the pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo later claimed that the staggering death toll in New York nursing homes was the fault of the federal government.\u00a0\u201cWe followed federal guidance on the nursing homes,\u201d Cuomo said in late June 2020 on NBC\u2019s \u201cToday Show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had more people die than any other state. That\u2019s a fact,\u201d Cuomo said. \u201cThe reason that happened was because we had the virus coming from Europe when the federal government told us the virus was coming from China. And we had no screening on people coming from Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in March, a sixth woman came forward to accuse Cuomo of sexual misconduct, claiming the Democrat touched her without her consent last year when she was inside the governor\u2019s mansion, according to a report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe alleged incident took place after the woman, a member of the governor\u2019s Executive Chamber staff, had been summoned to the mansion to assist the governor with a work-related matter,\u201d The Times-Union\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/news\/article\/Cuomo-faces-new-allegation-of-sexual-harassment-16011424.php\">reported<\/a>. \u201cThe woman\u2019s supervisors recently became aware of the allegation and alerted the governor\u2019s counsel of it on Monday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
