Biden defeated then-President Donald Trump by a 306-232 vote in the college.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHouse Democratic leadership has scheduled votes on two bills stemming from the Capitol attack,\u201d The Hill <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/553810-this-week-house-to-vote-on-jan-6-capitol-attack-commission?rl=1\">reported<\/a>. \u201cThe top Democrat and Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee reached an agreement late last week on legislation to establish a bipartisan 9\/11-style commission to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Homeland Committee on Friday agreed to form a 10-member commission \u2014 five Republicans and five Democrats \u2014 to probe the events. But House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy of California said that day that he hadn\u2019t yet seen the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), who last week was ousted from her No. 3 position in House GOP leadership, said McCarthy should appear before any commission. \u201cHe absolutely should and I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if he were subpoenaed,\u201d Cheney <a href=\"https:\/\/cheney.house.gov\/2021\/05\/16\/cheney-on-sunday-shows-the-foundation-of-our-party-needs-to-be-built-on-truth-the-constitution-and-conservative-principles\/\">told<\/a> ABC News\u2019s \u201cThis Week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he very clearly and said publicly that he\u2019s got information about the president\u2019s state of mind that day,\u201d Cheney said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll members, especially House and Senate leaders, should support this effort and there should be no delay in passing this bill to find the facts and the truth about what happened on January 6th and the events leading up to it,\u201d Cheney said in a statement on the day the agreement was announced. \u201cIn the aftermath of national crises, such as Pearl Harbor, the Kennedy assassination, or September 11th, our nation has established commissions so the American people know the truth and we can prevent these events from happening again. The same thing is needed for January 6th and this commission is an important step forward to answering those fundamental questions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cheney, who was one of 10 Republicans in mid-January to vote to impeach Trump, was ousted from her House leadership position on Wednesday. McCarthy supported her removal after she continued to blast Trump for pushing election fraud conspiracy theories.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe elements of that commission are exactly as they should be. I\u2019m very glad they rejected Leader McCarthy\u2019s suggestions that somehow we should dilute the commission,\u201d Cheney said.<\/p>\n<p>Before the agreement to create the commission, Cheney said a probe \u201cthreatens\u201d some Republicans who may have \u201cplayed a role\u201d in the event, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/news\/today-exclusive-liz-cheney-says-bring-it-potential-trump-backed-t218186\">said<\/a> on NBC\u2019s \u201cThe Today Show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI \u2026 think there is real concern among a number of members of my own party about a January 6 commission,\u201d Cheney said. \u201cI\u2019ve been very public that that commission needs to be bipartisan, it needs to look only at January 6 and the events leading up to it, not at the BLM and Antifa riots last summer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
