It was not related to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pubs were able to reopen their beer gardens April 12 after the U.K. loosened some of its COVID-19 restrictions, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/04\/12\/uk-lockdown-eases-pub-gardens-gyms-and-hairdressers-reopen.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNBC<\/a> reported. After such settings were allowed to reopen, footage of a fight taking place at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/The+Command+House\/@51.3871701,0.5232053,97m\/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x47d8cd074073494f:0xfea9b4a8963a556b!8m2!3d51.3871506!4d0.5237489\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Command House pub<\/a> in Chatham, England, circulated with captions linking it to the country\u2019s COVID-19 mitigation measures loosening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPub beer gardens back open in England,\u201d one April 19 Facebook post said. \u201cIts good to see everything is back to normal in them.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/03\/31\/fact-check-public-health-england-admit-cannot-scientifically-prove-covid-19-contagious\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did Public Health England Admit It \u2018Cannot Scientifically Prove That COVID-19 Is Contagious\u2019?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The altercation captured in the footage actually predates the COVID-19 pandemic. The skirmish took place in early July 2018, when people gathered in the beer garden to watch a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/44610244#:~:text=England%20won%20a%20World%20Cup,brilliant%20save%20from%20Carlos%20Bacca.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World Cup soccer match<\/a> between England and Colombia, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/sport\/football\/worldcup\/world-cup-2018-mass-brawl-breaks-out-among-england-fans-at-kent-pub-a3878806.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Evening Standard<\/a>. The woman who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/kelly.east.790\/posts\/228121931336619\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">took the video<\/a> said the fight occurred following a game-tying extra-time goal by Colombia, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/sport\/football\/worldcup\/world-cup-2018-mass-brawl-breaks-out-among-england-fans-at-kent-pub-a3878806.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">outlet<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Other British media outlets such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/world-cup-2018\/6691039\/england-fans-fight-kent-pub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Sun<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kentonline.co.uk\/medway\/news\/video-brawl-breaks-out-at-world-cup-bar-185702\/#:~:text=A%20mass%20brawl%20broke%20out,filmed%20at%20The%20Command%20Househttps:\/\/www.kentonline.co.uk\/medway\/news\/video-brawl-breaks-out-at-world-cup-bar-185702\/#:~:text=A%20mass%20brawl%20broke%20out,filmed%20at%20The%20Command%20House\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kent Online<\/a> also reported on the brawl at the time. On July 4, 2018, the day after the incident, The Command House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/thecommandhouse\/posts\/1925840604135576\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> on its Facebook page that it \u201cWILL NOT be showing any further World Cup games, including the England v Sweden game this coming Saturday 7th, and in addition any future football tournaments,\u201d citing the \u201cactions of a handful of idiots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the U.K. government allowed pubs and other hospitality venues in England to resume indoor service,\u00a0 according to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/covid-19-coronavirus-restrictions-what-you-can-and-cannot-do\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>.
