The workshop will take place on May 24 just days before the spring season ends the first week of June.<\/p>\n<p>Coaches received an email from Alexandria Little League board president Sherry Reilly, who announced the league had partnered with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and asked all coaches to attend the anti-racism workshop. As the Free Beacon reported: \u201cA Sports Can Battle Racism workshop document for coaches includes six core themes, from \u2018Create a Caring Climate\u2019 to \u2018Model Anti-Racist Behavior.\u2019 Coaches are encouraged to teach themselves to perceive their own \u2018internalized racism\u2019 and look for \u2018potential institutional racism\u2019 in the community. Coaches are also asked to \u2018be on the lookout\u2019 for moments that they can use as \u2018anti-racism learning opportunities.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PCA spokeswoman Casey Miller told the outlet that training sessions typically cost between $1,000 and $10,000 but would not say how much the year-long partnership with Alexandria Little League was worth or how much it paid for the coaches\u2019 training. Miller did tell the outlet about the PCA\u2019s goals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want kids to have a positive youth character building experience, and resources and training that empower youth coaches and parents,\u201d she told the Free Beacon. \u201cHow we define culture is based on how we dive into the \u2018we\u2019 piece about that statement. What does it mean to be a part of the we? Each person, no matter what background or what they look like, should feel a part of the we.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not everyone thinks young children playing Little League need extra lectures about togetherness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is Little League, everyone plays in every game,\u201d Alexandria parent Barry Bennett told the Free Beacon. \u201cThis is a bunch of busybodies virtue signaling. Leave ten-year-olds alone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As the Free Beacon noted, the PCA\u2019s online resource library \u201cmirrors the \u2018antiracist\u2019 and critical theory-based training in nearby public schools\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"28\">\n<p><em>One resource, geared toward high school student athletes, is a definition guide with more than 30 entries, such as \u201ccultural appropriation,\u201d \u201csystemic racism,\u201d and \u201cintersectionality.\u201d The guide links equality with \u201cmeritocracy\u201d and includes an addendum that asks \u201cwhether equality is enough\u201d and if \u201cequity is a more important principle.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Gender \u201ctranscend[s] biology,\u201d according to the guide, and is \u201cvery complex since people can identify in diverse ways.\u201d It notes that Facebook offers more than 70 gender options.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The alliance also offers a quiz that allows high school athletes to assess their \u201cprivilege.\u201d Being a child of a parent or guardian with a college degree is one example of privilege. Athletes and coaches can also use the website\u2019s \u201cidentity wheel,\u201d which includes sections on sex, sexual preference, race, and religion, to \u201cincrease awareness of how privilege operates to normalize some identities over others.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Similar trainings have drawn backlash from parents in the community. At a recent public meeting in Loudoun County, mother Shawntel Cooper gave a viral denunciation of Critical Race Theory, which she described as \u201cracist\u201d and \u201cabusive,\u201d The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/viral-video-black-womans-fiery-denunciation-of-critical-race-theory-before-school-board\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the words of Martin Luther King Jr., \u2018I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character,\u2019\u201d Cooper said. \u201cNow I have a dream that we will implement love, not hate, or supporting another Jim Crow\u2019s agenda. CRT is not a \u2018nice dialogue,\u2019 it was a tactic that was used by Hitler and the Ku Klux Klan on slaveries many years ago to dumb down my ancestors so we could not think for ourselves.
