They were pretty clear that what they had to offer was the family name, but it\u2019s not just the name, it\u2019s \u2018What does this money get you?&#8217;\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">What were Hunter Biden&#39;s business partners trying to influence? |  <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/UqObdVWrSK\">https:\/\/t.co\/UqObdVWrSK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Joy Pullmann (@JoyPullmann) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoyPullmann\/status\/1342093413559062528?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 24, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>While Hemingway noted that trading money for access is often legal, she also asked which American policy goals motivated the overseas companies to pay the Biden family and how they may have compromised U.S. policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bigger question is what were the policies that these Chinese companies or the wife of the Moscow Mayor or the Ukrainian companies, what were the policies of the U.S. that they were trying to influence? And how did giving money to Hunter and James Biden help them accomplish their policy goals? That\u2019s something that\u2019s very much worth looking into,\u201d Hemingway said.<\/p>\n<p>While Hemingway cautioned against rash investigations by the Justice Department, she acknowledged that Joe\u2019s clear involvement in Hunter\u2019s business dealings warrants attention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose things are usually not a great idea, but they\u2019re put in place primarily for conflicts of interest and this is a pretty standard conflict of interest when the president-elect himself is somewhat involved,\u201d Hemingway said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s eyewitness testimony saying [Joe] did know about this family business,\u201d she continued. \u201cHe has denied knowing it. He\u2019s falsely said it was Russian disinformation when it\u2019s clearly not.
