Israel has seen the worst violence between Jews and Arabs in decades as a result of the clashes, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>Now, a May 12 video on Facebook claims to show Hamas rockets landing in the Gaza Strip. \u201cHamas is bragging about firing 137 rockets at Israel in 5 minutes,\u201d text accompanying the video reads. \u201cIt fired over 300 rockets so far.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hamas did say on May 12 that they fired 130 rockets at Israel, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-middle-east-57094737\">BBC News<\/a>. The video, however, does not show Hamas rockets being fired into Israel or landing in the Gaza Strip. Through a reverse image search of key frames, Check Your Fact found the video posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gbEadzfpLkM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube<\/a> in July 2018, nearly three years before the current hostilities between Israel and Hamas.<\/p>\n<p>A translation of the video\u2019s title says it shows rockets being fired into Syria\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/middle_east\/assad-syria-daraa-violence\/2020\/11\/23\/28078628-243e-11eb-9c4a-0dc6242c4814_story.html\">Daraa province<\/a> by \u201cAssad gangs.\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/01\/30\/fact-check-rashida-tlaib-scarf-islamic-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Viral Image Links Rashida Tlaib\u2019s Scarf To The \u2018Islamic Terrorist State\u2019)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The claim was also shared in a May 11 <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/meVZb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweet<\/a> sent by Ofir Gendelman, a spokesperson for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who shared the video along with text reading, \u201cAnother video showing how Hamas is firing rockets at Israel from populated areas in the Gaza Strip.\u201d Gendelman later <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ofirgendelman\/status\/1392029908851957760\">deleted<\/a> the tweet.<\/p>\n<p>Raf Sanchez, a foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News, corrected the claim on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rafsanchez\/status\/1392419164648873987\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a>, saying the video likely shows fighting in Syria.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"10.769230769231\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Netanyahu\u2019s spokesman posted this video yesterday claiming it shows rockets fired by Hamas from Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>The video is actually several years old and appears to be from Syria: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/02FR3YWmpA\">https:\/\/t.co\/02FR3YWmpA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This has been pointed out dozens of times but the tweet still remains up. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/9xeHHQMQWS\">https:\/\/t.co\/9xeHHQMQWS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Raf Sanchez (@rafsanchez) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rafsanchez\/status\/1392419164648873987?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 12, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u201cNetanyahu\u2019s spokesman posted this video yesterday claiming it shows rockets fired by Hamas from Gaza.
