It is time to update our own workplace regulations. Every member of Congress has had the opportunity to be vaccinated, and you have indicated about 75 percent have taken advantage of this opportunity.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The United States Congress must serve as a model to show the country we can resume normal life through vaccination. Let\u2019s follow the science and get back to work.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-OH), who headed the group sending the letter, <a href=\"https:\/\/gibbs.house.gov\/media-center\/press-releases\/gibbs-pelosi-follow-science-stop-mask-erpiece-theatre\">issued a statement<\/a> saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"19\">\n<p><em>For all the talk from President Biden, Speaker Pelosi, and the mainstream media telling us to follow the science, political leaders should be setting an example for getting back to normal, not cowering in fear in defiance of common sense. Based on sound science, the CDC says those who are vaccinated have an incredibly low risk of becoming infected with coronavirus. With that data, there is no reason the House of Representatives should not be fully open and returned to normal operations. It\u2019s time to end the House\u2019s mask mandate and staggered voting. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The House of Representatives is filled with enough political drama. The last thing we should be doing is contributing to vaccine hesitancy with the same Mask-erpiece Theater Congress engaged in during Biden\u2019s address to the joint session. I and my colleagues are calling on Speaker Pelosi to reverse these restrictions and allow the People\u2019s House to resume regular operations.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s about control,\u201d House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) echoed. \u201cShe wants to control the House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome Republicans have said they aren\u2019t getting vaccinated because they\u2019ve had covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, and now have antibodies. Others, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Rep. Madison Cawthorne (R-N.C) have publicly declined to take a vaccine,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/2021\/05\/14\/pelosi-mask-mandate-house-scalise\/?utm_medium=social&#038;utm_source=twitter&#038;utm_campaign=wp_main\">The Washington Post<\/a> noted.<\/p>\n<p>Brian P.
