The book explores issues such as race, mental illness, sexuality, and media bias. It was taught to honors English students at Stone Bridge High School.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Parents are upset because there is \u201cgraphic sexual language\u201d and borderline \u201cpornographic content\u201d that is presented \u201cin the classroom setting.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The concerned parent organization \u201cParents Against Critical Theory\u201d sent an email to the administration asking why educators are advocating for \u201cpromiscuous actions.\u201d The email listed a slew of inappropriate phrases from the book, including some of the 30-plus phrases that included the word \u201cf**k.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The list included phrases such as:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>\u201cWhatever April. You don\u2019t even go to this school. You just here to get some dick.\u201d (page 207)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cShe sucked my dick\u201d (page 248)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cIs she fucking all of them\u201d (page 251)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cDarrell, didn\u2019t you fuck my sister?\u201d (page 264)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cFUCKING PUSSY!\u201d (page 299)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cMan, fuck you then dumb bitch\u201d (page 339)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cThat bitch is out like a fucking turkey!\u201d (page 348)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>The Daily Wire obtained a copy of the honors English class presentation on \u201cMonday\u2019s Not Coming.\u201d The presentation highlighted explicative excerpts, including excerpts alluding to potential sexual assault and oral sex.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c\u2018Me and Monday\u2026 We did do something.\u2019 He took a deep breath. \u2018She\u2026 sucked my dick. I didn\u2019t really want it to happen, it just kinda\u2026 did,\u2019\u201d the presentation reads. \u201cHer top lip curled up. \u2018Wait a minute, is that what was really going on? She did your homework and you [ate] her coochie! Mother Karlee Copeland feels the district is trying to subvert the role of parents by teaching such \u201csexually explicit reading.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWhat I don\u2019t agree with is distribution of child pornography or sexually explicit reading materials in the classroom. My role as a mother is to ensure my children\u2019s innocence is protected for as long as reasonably possible,\u201d Copeland said. \u201cI take great offense to the school system trying to subvert my role.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Another mother, Elicia Brand, told The Daily Wire that other parents chastise parents such as herself and Copeland who take problem with the required reading. Proponents of the reading make statements like, \u201cwho cares? They know this stuff already anyway.\u201d \u201cThey have access to the internet,\u201d or \u201cThey have seen it and hear it all. So what?\u201d <\/span><span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cFirst of all, no,\u201d Brand said. \u201cNot all kids search for that on the internet \u2026 Our schools certainly do not need to hand it over to them, especially with our tax dollars. Secondly, it violates policy to force kids to read books with this kind of context in it.
