Once again we are seeing how the irresponsible actions of government-allied right-wing extremists in Jerusalem can escalate quickly into devastating war.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.5588235294118\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I am extremely concerned by the growing conflict in Israel and Palestine. Once again we are seeing how the irresponsible actions of government-allied right-wing extremists in Jerusalem can escalate quickly into devastating war.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bernie Sanders (@SenSanders) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenSanders\/status\/1392216136285052928?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 11, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIsraeli children should not have to spend the night scared in bomb shelters, as many are doing tonight,\u201d Sanders continued, then snapped that the conflict stemmed from Israel\u2019s \u201cprovocative and illegal settlement activity\u201d adding venomously of Israel\u2019s supposed \u201cconstant violence and oppression of occupation\u201d as he wrote, \u201cPalestinian children should not have to grow up under the constant violence and oppression of occupation, as so many do, and have done.\u00a0The United States must call for an immediate cease-fire and an end to provocative and illegal settlement activity. And we must also recommit to working with Israelis and Palestinians to finally end this conflict.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bernie Sanders (@SenSanders) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenSanders\/status\/1392216138621259788?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 11, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is the same man who routinely takes sides against the one Jewish state in the world; this is the same man who has Jew-haters like Linda Sarsour stand by his side; this is the same man whose only connection to Judaism is an accident of birth and nothing to do with Jewish religious belief.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take a look at how much Sanders cares about Jews:<\/p>\n<p>In October 2019, speaking at the national conference of the notoriously anti-Israel J Street organization, and interviewed by former Obama officials Ben Rhodes and Tommy Vietor, both of whom supported the Iran nuclear deal that represented an existential threat to Israel, Sanders curried favor by suggesting that Israel did not respect human rights, snapping, \u201cI would use the leverage of $3.8 billion. It is a lot of money, and we cannot give it carte blanche to the Israeli government, or for that matter to any government at all. We have a right to demand respect for human rights and democracy.\u201d He threatened, \u201cMy solution is, to Israel, if you want military aid you\u2019re going to have to fundamentally change your relationship to the people of Gaza. I would say that some of the $3.8 billion should go right now to humanitarian aid in Gaza.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mosaicmagazine.com\/picks\/israel-zionism\/2019\/04\/catering-to-the-democratic-fringe-bernie-sanders-defames-israel-again\/\">Mosaic Magazine<\/a> noted:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"13\">\n<p><em>When Sanders wanted to win the Democratic nomination in 2016, he claimed that Israel had killed over 10,000 innocent Palestinians, launched indiscriminate attacks in the Gaza Strip, and shelled hospitals in Gaza during Operation Protective Edge in 2014. The senator not only inflated the numbers by several orders of magnitude, he even outdid the Hamas spokespersons in creating a false narrative that the IDF was intentionally attacking the civilian population.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sanders and Sarsour: In September the Sanders campaign\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BernieSanders\/status\/1170120494017740801?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1170120494017740801&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.jta.org%2Fquick-reads%2Fpolitical-activist-linda-sarsour-emerges-as-surrogate-for-berni\">identified<\/a> Sarsour as a \u201c2020 Bernie surrogate.\u201d As\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jta.org\/2019\/12\/02\/politics\/linda-sarsour-backs-bernie-sanders-but-not-his-support-for-israel\">JTA<\/a> noted in December 2019:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"12.715625\">\n<p><em>Nov. 29:\u00a0Sarsour\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/salah.sarsour.3\/videos\/2848029155208806\/\">appears<\/a>\u00a0at the annual conference of American Muslims for Palestine, and says in a speech at the Chicago event that Zionists, not pro-Palestinian advocates, should be on the defensive. In particular, she calls out progressive Zionists, suggesting they have no place in the larger progressive movement.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sarsour ranted:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"14\">\n<p><em>Ask those who call themselves progressive Zionists to explain to you how they can be against the separation of children on the U.S.-Mexican border, how can they be against building a wall between us and Mexico, how can they be against agencies like ICE \u2026 but then you tell me \u201cOh, you can\u2019t push me out of the movement because I\u2019m also against white supremacy.\u201d \u00a0Ask them this, how can you be against white supremacy in America and the idea of being in a state based on race and class, but then you support a state like Israel that is based on supremacy, that is built on the idea that Jews are supreme to everyone else.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In 2012, Sarsour\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lsarsour\/status\/263651398250545152?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E263651398250545152&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailywire.com%2Fnews%2F14642%2Fbig-bang-theory-star-demolishes-linda-sarsour-anti-amanda-prestigiacomo\">tweeted<\/a>, \u201cNothing is creepier than Zionism.\u201d In November 2017,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/24121\/watch-linda-sarsour-attacks-jewish-media-event-ryan-saavedra\">appearing<\/a> at a panel discussion about anti-Semitism, Sarsour\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/jacobinmag\/videos\/1965805270112831\/\">spoke<\/a> of the \u201cJewish media,\u201d complaining that the \u201cJewish media\u201d was singling her out along with anti-Semitic preacher Louis Farrakhan.<\/p>\n<p>Vis-\u00e0-vis Jewish belief, Sanders\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/bernie-sanders-finally-answers-the-god-question\/2016\/01\/26\/83429390-bfb0-11e5-bcda-62a36b394160_story.html?postshare=9611453895803704\">has stated<\/a>, \u201cI am not actively involved with organized religion,\u201d\u00a0and \u201cI am what I am. And what I believe in, and what my spirituality is about, is that we\u2019re all in this together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Human Rights lawyer Arsen Ostrovsky fired back at Sanders for his tweet blaming Jews, \u201cYou disgusting Hamas shill. My family spent night in shelter. Hamas fired 1,000 rockets at Israel. You can\u2019t even call them out, you blame us! Shame you. You\u2019re a disgrace.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"10.4\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">You disgusting Hamas shill.
