The complaint specifically mentioned a letter sent by New Jersey Rep. Mikie Sherrill and 33 other Democrats to the Acting House Sergeant at Arms, Acting Senate Sergeant at Arms and Acting Chief of the United States Capitol Police asking them to investigate unsubstantiated claims that Members of Congress led \u201csuspicious\u201d groups through the Capitol Complex on a \u201creconnaissance\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/04\/01\/republicans-doj-capitol-tours-478825?nname=playbook-pm&#038;nid=0000015a-dd3e-d536-a37b-dd7fd8af0000&#038;nrid=0000014e-f0f6-dd93-ad7f-f8f7ed7e0001&#038;nlid=964328\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">journey<\/a> ahead of the riot.<\/p>\n<p>The ethics complaint was sent by the top Republicans on the House Administration Committee, Illinois Rep. Rodney Davis, Georgia Rep. Barry Loudermilk and Wisconsin Rep. Bryan Steil.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint also noted Sherrill\u2019s Jan. 12 comments, when she told constituents in a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/13\/dem-congresswoman-other-reps-led-reconnaissance-tours-pre-riots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook video<\/a> that she was worried some of her colleagues had provided \u201creconnaissance\u201d tours to Capitol rioters.<\/p>\n<p>Sherrill and 33 Democratic colleagues then <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/13\/mikie-sherrill-house-democrats-investigation-visit-capitol-reconnaissance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote a letter<\/a> asking Capitol Police for more details about who was allowed into the Capitol days prior to Jan. 6, asking if they were investigating the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe visitors encountered by some of the Members of Congress on this letter appeared to be associated with the rally at the White House the following day,\u201d the Democrats wrote in the letter, Politico reported. \u201cMembers of the group that attacked the Capitol seemed to have an unusually detailed knowledge of the layout of the Capitol Complex. The presence of these groups within the Capitol Complex was indeed suspicious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Capitol Police never responded to the claims, and Democrats have not been able to provide evidence to support them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRespondents claimed \u2014 without evidence \u2014 that Republican Members of Congress conducted these alleged tours in order to provide \u2018unusually detailed knowledge of the layout of the Capitol Complex\u2019 to \u2018group[s] that left the White House and marched to the Capitol with the objective of preventing Congress from certifying our election\u2019 on January 6, 2021,\u201d the Republicans complaint reads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn an official appearance from her congressional office, which was broadcast on her official Facebook account, Rep. All four ranking members also voted against holding Donald Trump accountable for inciting the mob.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClearly, the security of our Capitol and democracy are not the priorities of these ranking members,\u201d he continued.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/04\/nancy-mace-slams-media-coverage-ocasio-cortez-capitol-riot-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018No Insurrectionists Stormed Our Hallway\u2019: Rep. Mace Slams Media Over Coverage Of Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s Capitol Riot Story)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Republican\u2019s letter placed blame on Pelosi for not properly securing the Capitol, saying, \u201cAs you are aware, the speaker of the House is not only the leader of the majority party, but also has enormous institutional responsibilities\u2026 The speaker is responsible for all operational decisions made within the House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Capitol police have since increased security around the Capitol building and there are still National Guard\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/25\/national-guard-will-occupy-dc-through-trump-impeachment-trial-report-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">troops<\/a> on the ground.
