We\u2019re in that post-Trump era,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/04\/caitlyn-jenner-california-gavin-newsom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jenner<\/a> said, noting that many Republicans had come out of the woodwork to help once she declared her intent to run.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re all my friends. I\u2019ve known them, a lot of them, for years. Some are new. And I have a very good group of people that are really looking out for me,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd the fact they work for the Trump campaign?\u201d Bash pressed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/05\/calling-all-patriots-caitlyn-jenners-california-governor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jenner<\/a> said that made no difference, arguing that those people would have worked with any Republican who had been elected. \u201cI mean, to me, that has no factor. They are very knowledgeable, very good. I need to surround myself with good people, and I\u2019m very fortunate that the Republican Party has supported me in a way that they\u2019ve surrounded me with really good people,\u201d she added, saying once more that she had not spoken to Trump about any of that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid you vote for him in 2020?\u201d Bash asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo,\u201d Jenner replied, adding, \u201cI didn\u2019t even vote,\u201d when Bash pressed for more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d Bash asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOut here in California, it\u2019s like, why vote for a Republican president? It\u2019s just not going to work. I mean, it\u2019s overwhelming. And at the time \u2014\u201d Jenner continued.<\/p>\n<p>Bash interrupted, asking, \u201cDid you vote down ticket?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo,\u201d Jenner replied, adding that the propositions on the ballot were usually what drove her to vote and in 2020 there had not been any that were of particular concern. \u201cAnd so it was Election Day. And I just couldn\u2019t get excited about it. And I just wound up going to play golf and I said, I\u2019m not doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo how do you get people excited to vote for you now that you want to be on the ballot?\u201d Bash changed the topic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause I\u2019m cute and adorable,\u201d Jenner shot back with a laugh.<\/p>\n<p>Bash went on to ask Jenner about qualifications to lead the state of California, noting that what people knew about Jenner \u2014 as an athlete, celebrity and reality television star \u2014 did not necessarily speak to an ability to govern effectively.<\/p>\n<p>Jenner explained that conservative principles were important \u2014 lower taxes and fewer regulations \u2014 but that she supported Democrats on a number of social issues and programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut you can\u2019t have one without the other. You can\u2019t have social programs and funding social programs if you don\u2019t have an economy,\u201d Jenner added. \u201cSo I feel like the first thing you have to do is we have to stop the exit of California.
